I've seen them go through there many times before, I don't think that they have to worry about fumes building up in there....
2:08 looked like it was coming over the switch, but now I realize that that was taken just outside of the poly (lamp post)

How about some Mark IV trivia...I will also answer these but I will cover up my answers.
1) Why would pilots get "sore thumbs" on the Mark IV's?
The button on the side of the MCU was the deadman switch, where today on the Mark VI's equivalent button, it's used for the radio. Pilots would have to hold in the button in order for the train to move, where today on the Mark VI's a pilot just has to hold the deadman.
2a) What did Shop do to one of the Mark IV's while testing for the Mark VI's?
Shop shortened Mark IV blue to 3 cars and put a Mark VI silouette around car 2.
2b) Which train was this?
Mark IV Monorail Blue
3) By 1989, approx. how many miles per year did the Mark IV's travel?
67,500 miles/year
4) Who developed the design of the Mark IV's?
Bob Gurr
5) 1st Mark IV to be delivered to WDW?
Mark IV Monorail Orange
6) 1st 3 Mark IV's to be in service at WDW?
Mark IV Orange, Green & Gold
8) Last Mark IV to go into service in WDW?
Mark IV Black
9) Empty weight of a 6-car empty Mark IV?
108,500 lbs
10) Length of a 5-car Mark IV?
171'
When Bay Lake Tower opens, I have a couple ideas for shots that I would like. If I can get permission to go the places I need to go, you want to help?

Cool shots!
I have a video from last summer during Fay while the monorails were backed up from the POV from my Contemporary Tower Room...Green had an air leak on resort and Blue was switching and the spur track got hit by lightning...

Funny, this reminds me of the Wikipedia post where some moron was arguing with 2 monorail drivers (both which I know well) - one of the drivers had been a trainer, and the guy was arguing "well, you might have been a trainer, but I have 30 years experience riding in the front cab"! I thought that was hilarious. Talk about stupid guests.
BTW - hi Zazu, and you know both monorail drivers too! (one still drives!) The guy on Wiki got himself banned, it appears more than once by baiting the mods.

Sure. As long as I can fit a tripod there, it can be done. These shots were done with a technique called HDR which requires at least 3 exposures with very little movement, so a tripod is needed.

Just wanted to say HI Denise! I got to meet you in person at AKL in November when I and my family met Zazu and SWMBO for breakfast at Boma. You were our travel agent for 2 or 3 Disney cruises. Good to see you on SGT.
