Did you ever watch WKRP in Cincinnati? That is my 2nd favorite episode next to the one where the trooper does a sobriety test on Johnny Fever and with every drink his reflexes improve instead of diminishing.

Actually they roost in trees so wild ones can fly short distances. Domesticated ones on the other hand do not do so well when dropped from helicopters.
:turkey: for lack of a dead splatted on the ground smiley this my turkey attempting to fly by using his tail feathers instead of his wings. PSST ...dont tell him but they are not the brightest birds.

Lesee:

Kennedy assination: wasn't born yet.

Challenger explosion, 1986. It was the start of my 2nd semester of college. I had a Tuesday morning class, and was supposed to have a lab class in the afternoon, but that was canceled, so I went home. I got home about 11:25 am EST, flipped on the TV, and saw that the news was covering the shuttle launch. I remember saying to myself, "cool, I can see the launch."

9/11/01: I was working for Lockheed Martin at the time. I was searching the internet for a rack cabinet for a project I was working on, when the internet "died." I couldn't get anything. Then I overheard someone say, "A plane crashed into the World Trade Center." Then I heard, "No way!" I knew that one technician upstairs in the lab had a small TV, so I figured I'd go check things out. I couldn't get to the internet anyway, so off I went. By the time I got up to the lab, there were about twenty people crowded around a 5 inch TV. We watched as the second plane hit, and then heard word about a plane hitting the Pentagon. People were just mulling around. No work was getting done, and managers didn't really care. I watched for a little over 2 hours straight. Lunchtime came, and it seemed that people stayed together in groups. My wife was inaccessible via phone except for a true emergency, so there was no need to try and get to her. I knew she would call at some point, or that I'd see her at home. She called about 2:30 pm, and we both asked each other if we were okay. All I remember saying is "all those people" (at the time, the death estimates were from 10,000 to 20,000 people). I got home, and put a blank tape in each VCR (I had two), and started recording CNN and a local news channel. I still have those tapes.

Columbia disintegration, 2003. I woke up about 6:30 am - 7 am and went downstairs. My wife had woken earlier and was downstairs with the TV on to CNN. CNN was talking about it, saying it was "overdue," etc. Then they had a reporter from KSC, and that there were some people waiting for it at the landing strip. I remember saying to my wife, "Bummer if you were there waiting for it." :o:

I was thinking about the people that were supposed to meet the shuttle. That must have been upsetting!

In 2004 I was flying to Orlando and in the seats just in front of me was an Asian family, I assume on the way to WDW. They had a small child, I would think about 4 years old. I looked between the seats at one point and there was the Mother cutting an orange up for the child with a paring knife. It had at least a 4 inch blade. I did a flash judgment and decided that they were not a threat so instead of causing them tons of hassle I just watched closely, ready to jump if necessary. Obviously, nothing happened but I did inform the Airline after so they would know just how lax the security check must have been.

I live in Vermont and never go to a Ben & Jerry's store or buy the Ice Cream. No real reason...just not that attracted.

My favorite TV show of all time WKRP in Cinncinati...They finally got the rights to the music used in the show, so they released the first season on DVD. They have to get the rights to use the music in the release of the Dvds since they are licensed material...It could be a while before we see subsequent seasons come out. I was so happy to see Season One. Things are not so far off from the truth of how a radio station really works in that show!!! Let's just say I knew some Johnny Fevers and Venus Flytraps. I was the Bailey Quarters of the show!
The Turkey show...the FUNNIEST. SHOW. EVER! :hysteria:

I highly recommend this book: High Calling: The Courageous Life And Faith Of Space Shuttle Columbia Commander Rick Husband. It's a biography of the commander, written by his wife.

very interesting about the copyrights to the music. Did they not have them before or do they need them now since the songs will be played in a different format ? (DVD as opposed to TV)
LOL...I wouldnt doubt that a radio station would be similar to what was portrayed on the show. I have been involved with some TV stations that I could compare to. LOL

Please dont tell me you had a Herb Tarlick and a Les Nesman too?
This doesnt translate well to the printed word but....."today in the golfing world...CHI CHI RODREGUIZ LOL
