Stupid Guest Tricks

Actually, the best airport is Starks Twin Oaks Airpark, identifier 7S3. There, if you know how to fly the thing and are lisenced, you go in, pick a plane, and go. The family that owns the airport and planes takes a lot of pride in what they do.

Well, if you have your student certificate through one of their instructors, you have a green light at the end of your runway.

Speaking of the runway, it's a great runway for learning to land. Uphill, narrow and kinda short. If you can land there, you can land anywhere. Makes takeoff a thrill, too.

Oh, I forgot to mention, you always land uphill, take off downhill, because of the trees at the end of the runway.

The poster of that report, Alice (Tacoma Ranch), is very active on the DisBoards disABILITIES Forum. She lives in the wilds of Wyoming and has multiple disabilities, as well as her son has several problem related to the Autism spectrum.

Older gentleman, a bit portly. Gray hair, glasses if I recall. Generally was a cheery guy and very amiable. If you know him then tell him he is much appreciated! He was so great and really informative, especially admirable since it was pretty late at night when we rode the monorail. I vaguely recall him mentioning a love affair for the chocolate eclairs from Epcot France Pavilion...

One time when I was piloting a light single (Cessna 172RG), I was given the following instructions by the tower controller after verifying observing the other aircraft: "Get at least two miles behind the second American 727 but not too far back as there is a United 747 following." This was going into O'Hare at about 3:30 on a Friday afternoon.

Actually got the opposite of that. Final Approach and landing speeds for jetliners tend to be in the 125 knot range. I was at full power, in a descent, and with the gear and flaps up and was doing about 145 knots indicated airspeed. The tower told me to slow down as I was overtaking the 727s.
