As I am now back in the hourly world, with about 18 different employers to deal with in the course of a year, I am back in the world of convoluted paychecks.Main Streeter wrote:dels, FANTASTIC! You have posted exactly what I've been thinking!!I don't care if it's 4830 @ DL ;) As long as the check has correct hrs & in Partner's I'm more than plzd. I chose to work @ DL, thus the time they use has become a part of my thinking & speech. If others choose to play @ DLR or WDW, behind stage clocks are none of their concern. Dels,

every employer presents the info differently, and with some employers I might have up to 12 pay rates in a week. But we always know what hours we worked, and the rate we were working at. When I calculate what I should gross, and compare it to what I do gross, the numbers align, and I am happy. Everyone can massage the data however their computer system requires, but on Thursday, its all about the correct $$ on the check !
If they err, I always prefer it to be in my favor ! It seldom is. Sorting out missing hours or incorrect rates is a nightmare, I dont envy the stewards who have to deal with it. Even payroll people have trouble understanding it.
20 years ago we still occasionally got an envelope of cash at the end of the day. Now it only happens at one location, and very rarely.
When I work in film, with my cheque I get a copy of the original pay sheet, the typed and approved by the management paysheet and the acutal stub with deductions etc. Any changes or overrides had to be noted on the handwritten sheet and explained. It was completely transparent, but a ton of work for payroll. I miss having all that info !
