My bad experiences with this always seem to happen on the Contemporary Platform.

Two of us on deck, this lady and daughter were giggling as they came up to me. Once they got about 20 feet away, Mommy started goading Tammy, "What are you afraid of, honey? What are you afraid of? What are you afraid of, dear?" to which Tammy responded excitedly, "Monorail Crash!" and then they looked giggling at me.

I stopped the line with them there, and did my usual question: "What is it, that in your mind, makes it funny?"

I always get the same response, "What do you mean by that?"

"Well, you see, a friend of mine died in that incident, yet you like to laugh about it, and in front of me. In fact, I noticed you started as soon as you got within earshot of me, and you are doing it for me? Why do you think that I am going to laugh about the fact that a friend of mine died? You obviously planned this little show out long before you came up here, which is vicious and cruel."

Okay, so I don't say that last part to most people, because I can watch their face and see that what I am saying is sinking in. I don't call most people cruel.

Mommy: "Wow, you're really mean. You should lighten up."

Me: "And you are a cruel... person. I don't want you coming in contact with any other Monorail Pilots, so please, don't use the Monorail for the rest of the time you are here."

While I could see that I was getting nowhere with her, the guy who was listening behind her was getting really angry at the exchange, and I knew I needed to let the line move or else she was going to get hurt.

I didn't let her or anyone in her party ride the Monorail. Not as long as I was on the platform. They took the elevator down, I never saw them again. Meanwhile,

I have to admit, I've lost some of my faith in humanity in this incident. Instead of the ratio of SG's to humans being 1:1000, I am now down to about 1:100. That is a sharp rise, but you wouldn't believe the things we hear unless you join us.

Are people really this naturally cruel? Have I had people all wrong? Why would a mother TRAIN her cute little 5-year-old child to hurt someone like that for no real reason? What is it that I don't understand about humanity?

This goes beyond stupid guests. This is a whole new level. By judging their laughter at our loss, I can't help but think that as kids, these people put house pets in bags and set them on fire. I fear that I am not inaccurate.

Belgarion, I think what you see in this thread when people describe these activities is anger at these guests' cruelty. Thankfully, writing about it and doing it are two completely different things, especially in this context. I've had people on the platforms that I wanted nothing more than to throw them in the trough after listening to what they say to or around us, just to watch us react. Usually, a few words puts that activity in its place, but in too many cases, the people just don't care.

I think if I was God, I would leave this place and start over on Mars. Good thing He has a lot more patience than I do.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

Oh, believe me, I've lost some of my faith in humanity as well. Years ago, in fact.

What they did was just cold, real cold. And she had the nerve to say "You should lighten up"?

I would LIKE to think that people are not that naturally cruel, but I'm not so sure anymore.
It seems that there are far too many people who get such glee and happiness by acting like cruel jerks. They actually get joy out of it. Quite frankly, its scary, and really sick.

I'm so sorry that you have to deal with that.

So we always had the SG's (Stupid Guests)

And recently Bru made the call that we now have HG's (Heartless Guests)

I think we need a whole new classification for the cruel people that BW described that would address all the above. :(

I'm sorry that you, BW, and all the other hard working Monorail Pilots have to deal with the nonsense* coming from the SG's after your loss.

Hang in there BW - you're doing good. :)

*I would have used the phrase "childish nonsense" but I've come to realize that not even a child can act in such a way on their own free will. It takes only the most cruel to pull something like that.

That is truly just astounding! I cannot for the life of me understand the mindset of some people! And after you EXPLAINED in simple language how hurtful her comments were, that she would tell YOU to lighten up is just completely moronic. Glad we weren't there, or I would have forgotten my Southern manners and opened a can of whoop-ass on her.

People are stupid, plain & simple. What makes someone think that is appropriate and then get their kid to go along is appalling. I have seen cast members yelled at and belittled and have spoken up for them. Believe I would have done the same thing here. Rediculous. Hang in there guys :(

Wallaby, those people are sick. You should've let the guy behind them rip them a new one. That's a form of bullying.

I used to be a security guard, and when I had a retail assignment, my co-workers and I would occaisonally run into kids that had been caught shoplifting, and when asked, the kids would say an adult told them to do it, and that it was okay. Why? Because they know the kid will get off with a lighter sentence just because they're a kid, and the adult can continue to train the kid into doing their stealing, etc., for them, like they're their little catspaw.

Then you have to blame the media, showing violence without remorse or punishment. People used to know better than to do stuff like that, but back in the day, people decided they were going to do what they wanted, in order to "express themselves", and with the whole "me first" thing, this is the result.

Believe me, I would have told her she was being sick, and if it was so funny, why wasn't anyone laughing? I would've called security and had her and her demon spawn kicked out of the park for harassment and disorderly conduct.

If you want, here's some bullying sites you can check out; they have tips on how to handle bullies. http://www.bullybusters.org ; http://www.bullyinginstitute.org ; http://www.workplacebullyinglaw.org (since they say bullying in the workplace is sometimes done by outsiders, such as customers, vendors, etc.) ; http://www.ahipubs.com; http://www.workdoctor.com ; http://www.kickbully.com .

Try to keep calm, and if possible, discuss this with your manager and see if they can provide extra security up there to back you up. Personally, the idea of eugenics sickens me, but for people like that I'd make an exception.

My gosh! That is horrible! What a terrible excuse for a being. And the fact that she was teaching her kid that...just plain sick!

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

You can't blame the media, except for very few occasions it is the parent allowing the child to view the content. And then they don't address the children about what they see and if it is right, wrong, or if there is a time for it. The natural assumption of doing something is that if nobody speaks against it, it must be okay. Blaming some massive group of people like the media may make you feel better, but it doesn't make your children any less screwed up (from a conventional standpoint).

In other words, Mommy was at fault for that.

But Wallaby... I'd have to agree about the Contemporary. I can't see how the resort CMs can stand being around some of those people all day. It seems like they get all the "mentionable" guests.

Stupidity is not a handicap, stand elsewhere.

BW,

I had tears in my eyes as I was reading what that horrible woman and her child did to you. I cannot fathom that there are actually people that heartless and cruel out there. I am sorry you have to deal with this.

I only hope that when my family and I visit, we can restore some of your faith in humanity. In a little over a month, we will be looking for you and all my other "friends" so that we can smile and say thanks.....you all bring magic to our lives just by being there!!!

Thanks and I hope it gets better for you!
