This seems like a good place to put this question. On my trip to DLR in May I will be there on my birthday even though I said otherwise and I have an AP. There was a period of time I though my birthday would be a blackout day (Memorial Day this year) but it seems it isn't so I don't need to get the pass. I am planning on getting the gift card which appears to be worth $70 because I am 21 years old. I know this can be used for food and tours and photopass, but not food. Does this gift card ever expire? I may find it difficult to use the full amount if it does because I am now at the point that I don't buy many things from the parks. Also, correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that the card is good in both parks and Downtown Disney and nowhere else. There really isn't a lot of information available for this that I have found.

Well... after my experience with guest services on this issue since my birthday is wednesday...and they contradicted themselves tons.
It is good in most disney operated merch locations, and is valid for tours. But for the tours, you have to pay with a credit card first and they then credit the gift card day of the tour. It doesn't have to be used on your birthday, but I think it expires in december.

My older sister is an AP. She picked up her gift card. It expires in a few months. She said you can use it in the parks and the World of Disney. It is used at a few food sites and it is not available on any Outdoor Vending carts. Apparently Disneyland's Outdoor Vending carts don't have registers and can't take the card. My sister did use it at the Farmer's Market at DCA and was happy. :)

WOW - that's a lot of misinformation on the fun card!!! Here's the official training I got to give to guests from City Hall.

The Fun Card, worth $69 for ages 10+ and $59 for ages 3-9, NEVER EVER expires. It's illegal for a gift card in the state of CA to expire. Some confusion over this stems from us originally trying to make it only good on the DAY OF the birthday by saying "It's a fun card, not a gift card", but that was stupid, so they dropped it and dropped the expiration date.

It is good at select merch locations, Guided Tours, Photopass, Ticket Media but NOT food locations. Candy (candy palace, Marcelines, etc.) counts as merch, not food. "Select" locations means no specialty stuff or stuff from Vendor locations (no limited edition original artwork, no crystal, silhouettes, parasols, face-painting, etc.) Your standard apparel, souvenirs, etc. are all OK. In Downtown Disney, it works at the Disney-owned locations (World of Disney, Marcelines, Vault 28, and the Pin Traders Pavillion.)

I have NEVER heard of this charging a card then crediting the gift card thing for Guided Tours thing - perhaps that was a one-time thing for someone whose Fun Card hadn't been activated properly or our card scanners in the Tour Gardens Kiosk weren't working properly that day (which wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility.)

Hope that clears some things up!! Happy Birthday!

That first food was supposed to be merchandise.

That helps a lot, they have almost no information on it that I have been able to find. Most of what I knew before was from here. They don't seem to want to let people know what alternatives there are to the free entry.

That might just be for down here? I am 110% sure it is either correct or that GR completely had no clue what they were telling me. (It only took talking to about 20 different people and the final guy researching it)
So... it does work for candy here? If so, I will be hitting up the main street confectionery tomorrow. FL doesn't have laws on expiring gift cards, and I think it was Zazu who told me it expires at the end of the year. (might have been doctor_mckey which would explain a ton)
At least they gave you training on what the card IS unlike the SCMs down here where I had to tell them what the card even is.
