yeah i was talking to someone about it, and appearently the one time she had to do that, they just kinda opened the gates and said here, this way, they didn't even set up guest controlers along a certain path, and then she was one fo the ones who had to go round people up, (with a cast on her arm, i would never want to do gc with only one arm) so anyway she was running around backstage, and then fell, and probly rolled, it was fun times.

I'll be limited to what I can do, but the musts are Soarin, Aladdin, HMH, the choo choo, Muppets, ITTBAB and IASWH, if I last that long.
MUPPETS ROCK! You are required to go at least 3 times while you're there. (And as always, listen for any moans of ecstacy from behind the screen during the quiet parts of the movie. 8) )

I think this was about DLR, but it wouldn't surprise me if the same thing went on in muppets at DCA too. Argh my poor innocent mind corrupted forever by the Disney Corperation...

Well now that you've all hijacked my thread, I'll give you a little update on our day.

We started out at DCA, got fast passes for Soarin and then walked right on Soarin. The boys were hungry by the time we finished, so we all got cookies at the Candy Store and then headed over to Tower for the boys to go on. I'd been on the one in FL before my accident, so I really wanted hubby and Joe to experience the ride for themselves. This wasn't the type of ride Laura likes, so we went shopping in the store. Hubby declares that he doesn't know which is more frightening, the ride or us girls shopping alone with their credit cards-lol!

The CM at the end of the ride was gracious enough to let us in the back so we could watch the pictures and see the artifacts and themeing. He even gave me one of the last "I took the dare" stickers. He was mega cool. We waited for the boys and when their picture came up, Laura and I laughed so hard, we were on the floor and missed the boys coming out! I haven't laughed that hard in a very long time!

Then, using our FP we went back on Soarin, then walked around for a little bit. After making another stop at the Candy Store for some fudge, we headed over to DL for the balance of our day.

Again, the boys were hungry so we went to Rancho for lunch. It used to be really great since both Laura and Larry like Mexican and Joe and I like BBQ, Rancho always worked out for us. This time, with the yucky menu change, it didn't. I had the chicken and the shrimp and Joe had just the chicken. The garlic sauce was full of aritficial garlic flavor or just really cheep garlic and the potatoes were too spicy, so was the pineapple. It just wasn't an enjoyable meal. Too bad as this was one of our favorite places to eat. With indigestion in tow, we headed off to HMH where we were treated royally. Then, off to Pirates. I had to wait over an hour for them to get off the ride as I cannot go on that ride with a broken hip, its just impossible for me to get in and out of that boat. I really missed the days of the old pass as when they really wanted to go on a ride I could not, I could wait with them in line and then they could go. It would save me a lot of waiting time and my energy is at a Premium.

This new policy just isn't working. You have no idea how many fakers we saw taking turns in the chairs. All the new policy has done has made it just cost a little bit more to cheat. And they do. And some are just blatant about it. When we went on HMH, we saw one girl go in the mansion in the chair and then t he brother come out of the mansion in the chair. Go figure.

But I must commend the CMs for knowing the policy and knowing what to say. We had a group of 8 behind us at IASWH who were standing in the disabled line. The CM asked to see their GAC and they said they didn't need one as they were disabled. They were all adults and the CM asked them what assistance they needed. They said they couldn't wait in line. They were disabled. Again the CM asked them what kind of assistance did they need to navigate the line. They again said they couldn't wait. When pushed, one of the girls said that her husband would throw a tantrum if he had to wait. So, then the CM suggested that half of their party wait in line and then when they get to the front of the ine, he would send their party down the stairs to join them and they claimed they couldn't be seperated without disasterous results. They got out of line and pretty much had a tempter tantrum that their little ruse did not work, but throughout it all, the CM was polite, efficient and friendly. To the credit of the party though, a couple of the guys looked retarded and that could be their disability, but I don't think that prevents them from being able to wait in line.

After SW, I had had it. I was through for the day. 3 rides for me, 5 total for our group. I don't see how having the GAC would have made my day more efficient than the day of the non-disabled guest, who will be able to get on at least 8-10 rides or more. The GAC being a front of the line pass, enabling us disabled folk to have special priviledges is a falicy. If you think that it discriminates agains the paying guest, think again. Even with the GAC, I would have been able to go on no more than 5 rides as is the same with most disabled people, the truly disabled people. Very few of us can tolerate the length of a day that the non-disabled guest enjoys, the GAC just leveled the playing field and allowed us to get on a few more rides in the short time we can be at Disneyland. There is still the rampant abuse that there was before and with the holidays, its even more prevelant.

We finished up our day with cookie decorating and declared it a fun day, although its taken me all week to recover from the strain of our few short hours at the Merriest Place on Easrth. Its too bad I didn't last long enough to see any of you and I would love to do astro orbitor, but nevermore, nevermore.
