Christopher, guests like you are the reason I still work at the park.

I had a bit of a bad day yesterday at work long story it all goes back to my guest complaint (see SGT board on Disneyland). I came back and reread your post it made me smile inside and reminded me why I got a job a Disneyland.
It's the experience, from telling a guest the best place to watch the fireworks, to giving directions on how to best get to Tomorrowland from the Haunted Mansion, to escorting a child through the side door on the mansion because they afraid of the expanding room, to just talking with a guest who is thrilled to be at Disneyland.
Polar is right about the rudeness being true of all guest service jobs. People feel entitled and "The Customer is Always Right". Thank you again Christopher for helping me see the magic once again.

Thanks again, everyone. While I'm thinking about compliments, I think I'll go ahead and share a little something I witnessed that showed some other guests enjoying themselves too.
I remember one of the many things I had been overwhelmed by on that Christmas visit I was writing about was seeing the "Small World Holiday" event for the first time. I ended up going on it at least three times while there because you had all taken a ride that was already a beautiful one and made it even more beautiful, which I previously could not have imagined possible, and even the outside of it looked spectacular at night. It sort of made it look like it was always sunset over there in that area of Disneyland because the special lights just lit everything up in this really pretty bright rose glow.
Anyway, one night I was riding the monorail. Ahead of me were at least three families sitting on the one side that faced the park, and as the announcement mentioned passing "Small World", and that beautiful glowing ride came into view, instantly all those family members' faces were just pasted to the window. The moms and dads and children, all at once they were gasping and going "Ooh!" and "Isn't that gorgeous?" and one little girl said, "It has magic dust all over it!" (I loved that last one.) And I couldn't help overhearing one dad who sat ahead of me saying to his wife as he was smiling at it, "You know, that sight alone makes it worth flying all the way out here. Prettiest thing I ever saw." :)

This is the kind of stuff that I love to hear. When I see that glow in families eyes it just makes my heart melt. Thank you again for sharing you're memories. These are the things that we need to hear but often times don't. As castmembers we often vent a lot about the stupid people we have incountered throughout our days. I think that if more people like you would just verbally tell us how much we are appreciated it would make all of the bad guests just dissappear. I'm glad that your time at the resort was magical and I hope that we as castmembers can work together to make everything just as magical for you(and others) on your next visit with us.

Christopher, again, thank you for your encouragment and appreciation, but a note on guest compliments. You can go to City Hall (or in California Adventure guest relations, located by the entrance) and give the compliment there on your way out, so then you only have to remember the name until you leave the park.
BTW, to all the cast members, you know we can't give compliments to other CM's? I cheat, I'll just make someone else in my party give the compliment if it's deserved. :)

No problem, I'll do that on my next trip. :)
Since I hadn't taken the time to do that while there, I hope that doesn't chalk me up for one stupid thing I've done as a guest? ;)

No. Ban the thought. If you've read posts today you'll realize you are not stupid. Not by a long shot. Keep posting your POSITIVES! :)

I've been looking around the new posts today and I think I agree with you! I also spent some time looking around last night at more topics and am now, um... not sure how to respond. I've also noticed that there are far more topics in the Disneyland forum than the Walt Disney World one. Does this mean that Disneyland has more difficulties, or is it that not many Walt Disney World CMs have registered here yet to report their own?

It's strictly body count.
There are a lot more DL CMs here than WDW, though I'm doing my best to spread the word.
Trust me, based on turnstile count alone, WDW has more stupidity than Disneyland! (And that's just the turnstile at Team Disney!)

That's hillarious Zazu! I am laughing so hard I am getting strange looks from my roommate.
