You coveted that thing. :D: How could I deny you "that thing?" If I make you laugh then I've accomplished something. If I confuse you.....I have hit the target. :) You want more on CL & F O S? Your wish is granted. Their circus train is still around.

Back to Ms. Diller... I recall seeing her as a contestant on a rerun of Groucho Marx's You Bet Your Life. She'd been at it a while. Funny lady, and still on her game voicing the Queen in A Bug's Life.

Oh..Oh! Be careful, I just got my hand slapped and points on board X for insinuating that they had gone off topic.

Good thing we're not Board X. We will never slap your hand for insinuating deviation from topic. Such deviation might as well be encouraged.
It's amazing how rarely we have to give anyone points around here. We just don't have sticks in our underwear, nor do we allow sticks into our bodies through orifices through which they do not belong. We have been known to drive others to perform said procedure on themselves. :D:

Funny thing is that I worded it exactly the same way as Wombat. I didn't care that it had gone off topic, I was just trying to comment on the original "titled" thread. I was told that I shouldn't upset the nice people having a civil conversation and try and control the thread or "police" the board. Who needs that bunch of uptight SG's. I have pulled completely out off that board and have no intention of returning. I wish them well.

In fairness, the most famous of the Board Xs has different moderators, and different practices in each of their fora. For instance, the disability and dining forum moderators are known to me, and both are pretty easy going. Other forums, not so much.
I would therefore encourage you to abandon those forums where you feel mistreated, certainly, but don't tar them all with the same brush. Some remain worthwhile, despite having a despicable zip code.

Normally, I have the patience of a saint when it comes to the boards, but it was becoming obvious that I was being targeted. I'm not a paranoid person usually either. Two different Mods. within 3 days had my words taken completely out of context and when I explained what they meant and even went so far as to back up my meaning by what I had written in the post, I was ignored and basically told that perhaps I should take some time off from the board and "find a way to regroup". I was called a troll, by a Mod. and told that I should take the time to find a way to not join in with the "
other troublemakers". This was after 10 years and almost 7000 posts. Sorry, but although I know that I am not perfect and occasionally tend to get snarky with stupid statements. A troll I am not. I was even told that discussion boards were not the place for conflicting opinion and not in the spirit of a happy place. My thought is it's not much of a discussion board with nothing to discuss. They seem to want harmony in spite of the huge possibility of giving misleading and sometimes blatantly incorrect information.
I am still a member of other boards and have, at least to my knowledge, no problem being in them. It's actually a good thing since I spend way too much time on them anyway.
BTW...this is way off topic from the loss of Phyllis Diller. She was a true comic genius and probably would be considered a troll on some boards. How's that for fitting it all nicely into this particular thread? Damn, I did it again. Sorry!

Well, Phyllis Diller did look a bit like the little troll dolls, Goofyernmost. How's that for a tie in????
And she was, in my estimation, a comic genius.

So in real estate terms, no Internet redlining?

My apologies for accusing anyone in this conversation of having a stick up their rear end. I should have said pixie dust melted together and formed into an ingot.

all that "compass points" directions aside, I remeber her as one of the funniest women I had ever seen on television (from the 60's) and she did a lot to pave the way for other women in comedy.
condolences to "fang"
