Sounds like you need one of those "CLOSED" signs, maybe then people will get the right idea. ;)

Yes- I am thinking that I will start insisting on a second lunch break-incorporating my 15 minute evening break I never get to take anyway. Any of you know how Dept. of Labor in Cali hands out 2nd Lunches? Looks like I need to Google....

Our Hours are posted on the doors. We have instructed patients through the doors to call 911 or go to our other Facility 20 minutes away if it is an immediate need as MD is not available (Meaning MD said NO when I relayed symptoms). I will see how the next couple weeks go....

OK, I Googled!
Looks like I'm entitled to a 2nd meal break for those 12 hours...which I can un-waive with 24 hours notice....My Union Person is aware...is going to review our 12-hour "agreement"......
Helpful website I found- http://www.gotovertime.com:)

Man, that is just evil. And you know that, even if some employees can hack those hours without the quality of their work going down, statistically speaking speaking some won't be able to. How is that better customer service?

Agreed. I think that maybe hiring another person to cover our second meal breaks may become necessary-and then it suddenly won't be as important to accept patients after we are closed

You do know people will still come to the door, not reading the hours, right? Shut the lights off and post a security guard to tell them "It's closed--call 911 or go to the facility 20 minutes away." I've seen it done elsewhere, and it generally works. Rent-a-cops are cheaper than having medical staff posted beyond allowable hours.

We DO have a security guard....and have been doing that. Boss wants us to take care of them instead of directing them away if at all possible.

I did tell the Docs to close their blinds as pt.s can see them working in there.....

Yeah, who wants to be treated by medical professionals who are not at 100% of their A game. I know that interns in hospitals are always working at a sleep deficit, but that is why there are nurses, and supervising Drs to keep an eye on them.
