Do cm really hate GAC?
Re: Do cm really hate GAC?
As a guest, sometimes it is hard not to judge. Just human nature, I guess. But passing out dirty looks is being judgemental, if you get what I mean. I'm with DisneyMom on this (and numerous other things it seems), and would never dream of giving anyone the glare, unless, of course, they are actively doing something stupid. Someone who is getting special dispensation from a cast member doesn't even register with me most of the time. I figure there's a reason and it doesn't bother me. I know that some may be getting that under false pretenses, but if they're not making a scene and arguing with the CM I'm perfectly happy assuming they need the assistance.
Now, someone trying to push ahead of a line because they don't have time to wait, or one person from their party is "saving their place" in line, well, they deserve all the animosity they get.

This resonated with me. I can't recall ever seeing a GAC used, but I have seen magical things done for people around us. We just enjoy watching their expressions and are happy for them -- we've had plenty of magical moments ourselves, so it's fun to see others get special treatment. I just can't imagine the mindset that gets jealous and demands pampering all the time.WEDFan wrote:... Thanks all, you put my mind at ease after 18 trips 9 my daughter had to use a wheelchair we only used the GAC once and that was for her to be out of the sun, if her back gets any sun will make her scar more noticeable and burn badly even with sunscreen on it still burns and blisters .. the reason we use a wheelchair instead of a EVC's is for everyone health she is a lousy driver and no she don't drive a car either lol
Re: Do cm really hate GAC?
The only time it annoys me is when people try to use it for transportation and get offended when I tell them it's not applicable for transportation. Or try and argue. Or bypass the entire queue full of a thousand people to ask about it.
I wouldn't mind, except it says on it that it's not applicable for transportation.

My sister has used a GAC the last few years. She blew her knee out in high school > and 35 yrs later is still having issues. Sept had a total knee replacement. We have never had a CM say, or question her use of the GAC. But, we respect the use of it. Don't ride an e-ticket ride more than once, a day. There is only her and I so we have no entourage / crowd.
She tried to remain mobile as long as possible, and now after her surgery > part of her recovery is to walk, walk up stairs etc... But, unfortunately there is no way she can go at a pace to pick up fast passes, or be able to stand continuely in line for an extended amount of time. Trying to not use the GAC system > I think we would ride 1 or 2 things before she was exhausted and we left for the day to sit next to the pool.
I would like to say thank you for the system. And for the ease and kindness many many many CM's have extended to us. We have never felt uneasy or "weird" about using the system.
--Side note-- We did attempt a wheelchair, however; I thought in the august sun I was having a heart attack push her around AK one morning. And then attempting the treaded "cart' was unable to get around DHS without worrying about hitting someone, or running into things. The cart was unbelievably hard to use in summer crowds.
Thank you, once again. :D:

I had a guest yesterday get mad at me because I would not allow him to stand in the fastpass lane at Star Tours and watch the Jedi Training.
When I asked him to either go to the JTA viewing area or proceed onto the ride he flashed the card and said" I don't have to do either, I have this card so I will go on the ride after the show" I then explained that card did not allow him to do whatever he wanted so he needed to move since he was blocking a fastpass lane.
He then told me to go F myself and walked into the building.

Sounds like he had a happy day. Seriously, you can't just stand wherever you want just because you paid the measly admission. That's like rubbernecking on a busy freeway whenever you feel like it because you paid your taxes. YOU'RE NOT THE ONLY ONE THERE, YOU PRICK.

This is when you involve security to straighten out the situation, or possibly have the guest escorted out of the park. There is no need to put up with that kind of abuse, or to put yourself in a less than safe position because of this. Anyone using that kind of language could easily get pissed enough to assault you.I had a guest yesterday get mad at me because I would not allow him to stand in the fastpass lane at Star Tours and watch the Jedi Training.

Whatever you do, don't involve a supervisor, unless you know they will back you up, or you could end up getting your ass handed to you and get written up while they give the guest a free pass or other instant gratification, because you angered/inconvenienced them.

I had a woman come up to me today to complain about another location's
policy on the wheelchair stamp gac. (I wonder if she goes to IHOP to
complain about Denny's?)
SG: "They sent me all the way around their building to the exit!"
Me: "Do you have a wheelchair, braces, service animal that can't
cross the track?"
SG: (After turning up the volume and hitting the bat shit crazy button)
MY SON HAS CANCER!!!!
Me: (after pausing to watch every pigeon in 10 miles take flight)
"Oh, sorry to hear that. Do you have a wheelchair, braces, service
animal that can't cross the track?"
SG storms off cursing how awful everything here is.
If you ever stop and ask yourself: "How do they dress themselves?"
Congratulations and welcome to my world.
