I've been playing for the part few days. I started level 2 yesterday. The game gets harder the further into it you get. I forgot to mention that the "key" card has an RFID chip embedded into it and is used to track your game progress. One of the projectors had a flaw in it, yesterday, in Fantasy Land. It was missing a large portion of the display and you couldn't see where you were supposed to go to next, because of that. I was able to recognize the location, as I had been through them already. One can also use their key card at any portal to tell you where you are supposed to travel to next. The portals use a rear projection system and are not visible when they are off. I'm going back later today to play again.

ah, thats how they hide them. make them a part of a object. makes sence, otherwise it might be blocked by a guest or something.
if you go into a shop that has one, like the one on that tankard or vase, can you see the unit when it's on? wonder how lomg before someone copies all the games videos and puts them up on youtube? I mean, you can see work tapes and stuff on there now.

Most of the portals are on the outside of buildings. One is in a fireplace inside the Tortuga Tavern. There is a bit fo a problem with small guests (children) walking in front of the players to see the videos, but it is tolerable as long as they don't stay there. ;)
Here is a portal located near the shooting arcade in Frontierland. Here it is off.

and here it is activated.

Board x has a thread on how some of the cards are already selling on e-bay and people are collecting them. I assume you can play the game through with whatever cards they give you -- doesn't sound like you need to trade cards to win the game, anyhow. I can see hanging onto the cards as souvenirs of the experience, but I gravely lack the collector gene, so this puzzles me. Are some cards more effective somehow, or is the appeal just that some cards are rare-er?

The cards have different attack and defense points. There are 70 cards in total. The cards numbered 61-70 are currently not available and I heard a rumor that they were issued on the first day of soft opening of the game, a few weeks back, but they were recalled. They will be available when the booster packs go on sale later on.
I have seen several off duty cast members playing the game with whole sheets of cards held up to the screen. I understand that you can use up to seven cards at once on the higher levels of the game. I just completed the first level the day before yesterday and only have half of the cards so far. You can use your spell cards repeatedly as many times as you want, so in theory it only takes a few cards to win, especially at the beginning of the game. The complete set of rules for the game will be released at a later date, but people have discovered other ways to play. I understand that some have downloaded the cards into their smart phones an have been able to play the game that way. You do need your "key" card to keep track of your progress.
i think they don't want all the game information revealed to keep people interested. They also aren't advertising the game very heavily, but word has been spreading and the lines to play are getting longer.

I hope you mean to pick up the cards or something; I know they limit the Kimmunicators (or at least they sometimes run out) so supposedly people don't stack up (although I've also heard that, if people realize they're following someone, they'll dawdle a bit so they can initiate things on their own). Although if people can hang onto the cards, then Disney has no control over that, do they. Hmmm. Could be interesting. :piratedan

The lines to pick up cards can be long, but they have two locations that give them out and both are on the game map they supply. The lines to the portals are what are getting long. There are only five portals per land (four lands) and a few hundred people could be playing at the same time.

I've only been playing for a few days (I started on Feb 29th), and it's a lot of fun. I reached Level 2 today! The only annoying thing is when people come up and keep asking "do you have cards to trade", "do you have any traders", ect.

There are plenty of videos up of the various portals, I've been watching threw youtube since the soft open began. They've been popping up more and more lately, I'm looking forward to trying this out on our next time down to Orlando.
It looks like something fun to do during spare time in the park.

Um...
Okay, this isn't a "role-playing" game, at least not as I would define it. This is more of a "card-battle" game. It is still quite clever, and charming to boot.
