If Board X is to be believed, it sounds like Disney is handling this really well, what with the various perks (getting to take your picture with Cinderella's carriage, etc.) and the dance parties and all. I'm particularly impressed with the free park hopping, which is an obvious solution and I hadn't thought of it. :p: Kudos to Disney!

Not that everyone there agrees with me. One poster complains that Disney's just "throwing people a bone." I'm sure there are still people disappointed, since Disney's cancelled all tours and some ADRs, but IMHO some of that sort of disruption was inevitable, since I'm guessing Disney was not notified 180 days ahead of time (going on what I've read regarding past presidents, the Secret Service rarely has that kind of lead time, and doesn't tell anyone else that early when they do).

I went this morning just to see how management decided to work with it.

The bypass was open from between the Theatre and Le Chapeau going all the way back to Tomorrowland, next to buzz. Going back their they had different floats, music, all of the Main Street Vehicles and those weird banner things. Definitely a different atmosphere. It actually reminded me of going to a circus before they're finished setting up.

The only big problem was that you had to go to Hall of Presidents to hear/see the speech, and that filled up fairly quickly. So that led to a bunch of people standing around watching the Secret Service do their job. Which they didn't like in turn because it involved everybody being against the wall between Liberty Square and the Hub. They first had security/PAC move everybody back. And then made it so nobody could stand there.

But it felt as if the Secret Service was over compensating for Disney being incredibly lax about security, nothing more than your standard bag check as you enter. Which surprised me, I expected at least the K9 units to be milling about between bag check and turnstiles.

But nobody seemed too angry, just frustrated, all of the cast members, except one, were relaxed, polite and doing the best they could. Of course I think every MK statused manager was working today.

Really?! I expected the main entrance area to look like the pound with a whole lot of K9 units out there to make sure nobody snuck anything in.

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

What amazes me is that no one here has mentioned the actual announcement itself. He is making visa easier to get for tourists from China and Brazil. BRAZIL !?!? The president is passing a law to encourage more Brazillion tour groups!

Isn't that just what everyone wanted? Granted, the country needs the tourist visits and the $$ that they bring. But more Brazillion groups ? Come one...

You get the Brazeelians, we get the Chinese. At least the Brazeelians don't spit. Do they?

Apparently they represent the two largest sources of visitors from countries requiring visas to visit the US. Canada and the UK are a larger source of visitors, however they don't need a visa for their citizens to visit.

Not that I ever noticed, however they don't think public bathrooms are required and any possible bush/tree/shrub shall do. No matter who could possibly be looking. :(
