As you know in a situation like this, there is nothing we can say to you. This is your road, but you have the community of SGT here and ready to listen when needed.
My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

Many years ago, one place I was working at had this lead man who was very nice, but he was constantly drinking coffee--and this was long before Starbucks and gourmet coffee were around. He had very high blood pressure, and he didn't drink the decaf. We begged him to go easy on the coffee, but I guess he was totally addicted. Well, one Monday morning, he didn't show up to work. They called his place, no answer. They called his apartment manager, she went to his door, couldn't get an answer from ringing the doorbell. She called the cops, they went in, and found him lying dead on the living room floor. He'd had a massive heart attack from all the coffee he drank, plus his high blood pressure. They had to put him on ice while they searched for his only known relative, an ex-wife. It was so sad.

So sorry you're dealing with this. :( There's no easy way to lose someone, but I do think when you know ahead of time there's a better chance for closure.DonutGoddess wrote: It's all very sudden and a little weird to lose someone was seemed fine just a week ago.
It does sound like there were ongoing issues that the accident and police visit kicked up to crisis level. But hindsight is 20-20; lot easier to see the pattern when you know the outcome. I think many of us find it hard to step in and take control from a fellow adult, even when we are concerned that something bad is going on with them. Part of that whole American right to independence thing, I suppose.

I am reminded of the morning I came in three days after the wreck to find out that another Monorail pilot had had a heart attack on his way in to work. The stress got to him. The worst part was that when we found out we were already so numb that there was nothing left for his memory. In his case, that was the saddest part of all. Two great people, and one did not get the mourning he deserved.

When the community theater phone tree called to inform me of the death of one of my theater friends... it was surreal. He wasn't even sick. He wasn't old. He just... went to bed early one night feeling a little nauseous and never woke up again.
