That was my thought as well. So now I get to sue people for something that "might have" happened, but didn't? I'd love to invoke that right against some maniac drivers who were clearly doing something stupid and illegal that might have killed me if I hadn't had good reflexes. But using it against someone who was following the rules of safety as best they could? I don't think so.

But I was surprised at the depth of animosity against the Mythbusters and the show itself in some of the comment threads. I think it's a great show that has interested many kids in the scientific process, myself, and also regularly makes the point that the "inherently obvious" isn't always true, a valuable lesson, IMHO.

don't forget, in the world of lawsuits, the one "Precaution" that they failed to take, was to not do the experiment.

and probably any rookie lawyer could argue that they put the entire neighborhood at risk of their lives!

The show may just settle anyway which is probably the whole reason they want to sue.
