There's also a Ferrell's in Honolulu. Bit of a drive from DLR though.

I remember the Ferrell's in Northglenn, Colorado. Which was apparently "the shortest lived Ferrell's" (year and a half, according to this site:
http://www.happyitis.biz/Tidbits/trivia.htm ) They opened it right after we'd moved from Northglenn to Westminster, but still just a short drive away.
Provided a brief respite from that Denver institution, Casa Bonita, which I hated with a deep dark passion, and was my parent's prior and subsequent "big event" place.

I admit I did like the waterfall. I've got a weakness for waterfalls. But even a waterfall couldn't make up for the long lines and bad food (everyone says the sopapillas are good, but IMHO they're just as good everywhere else I've had them). (Except maybe the ones at Sassagoula Floatworks, which didn't seem to be as good as I remembered, but they were supposed to be beignets anyhow.)
Sadly, Casa Bonita is still around to torture yet another generation. And Ferrell's couldn't make it there. Go figure. :shaker:

My sister's soccer team went there and ordered "The Zoo," and I had a lot of fun seeing the people run around the whole place delivering it to us! I might go back again sometime...That place was really neat. The location that I went to is closed now (Mira Mesa, San Diego), though. Mission Viejo and Santa Clarita are the only two left that I know of...rumor had it The Block @ Orange was to get one in 2003, but that never came thru either.
According to the website, they are making a comeback.
About time!

The gals in my office took me there on my birthday many years ago. It was indeed a fun place. Wish they had something like that around my neck of the woods here in the deep south.

I remember one Farrell's was in the news in a sad way. A little 6 or 8 year old boy was having his birthday party there, and "The Zoo" was ordered. He was taking in the bells, horns, etc., with childish glee, when a small plane crashed into the place. If I remember right, the boy and his party were in the line of fire. :( There were several casualties, the boy included.

Is it sad that the OP video on this thread, when Billy-Wilbur is introducing the band, it makes me think of my cousin, Billie-Jean? She was very nice to look at, and that's the only nice thing I can say about her. With the first words out of her mouth the day I met her, it was apparent that she was pretty well worthless as a human being with no respect for anyone she didn't already like. As the week progressed, she and her household family only cemented that image in my mind. Please note, for the first two days, I tried to give a second chance since she was family, but the first statement was one of the nicest things she said to or about any of us.
Wow. I forgot that I even remembered them. I guess they made an impression.

I double-checked that accident, the boy lost several family members but he survived.

It's funny. In addition to some obvious things I remember about the Farrell's that was near where I live as a young boy, such as the boater hats, the Zoo, and the excitement of going there, I remember that my folks would usually buy us some taffy at the candy shop on the way out for later. Odd how some memories stick with us.
