Thanks to everyone who's offered to help, this project has been a real pain since I'm not allowed to use the info I already know myself. Granted, Seaworld Orlando had different standards and ride-out operations then Disney but it's really unpleasant when you need to use outside sources NOT what you know the parks already do!

@Amphigorey:
Floyd, God that stupid storm flooded EVERYTHING! I only remember this because it flooded out my High School and I was (surprise) on Ride-out call for SWO at the time.

And that's a bad thing? Ever since I've been with Disney I've always been one of the first to sign up for ride-out crew when the sheet is posted. I have no intention of riding out any hurricane in my apartment and with the super strict building codes Disney follows I can't think of a safer place to ride out a storm. Wish I could help but, like Mapo said, it's against company policy.

I can say that for those of us on permanent ride out status, we do so appreciate Cast like Shorty that come back storm after storm after.... :D:

For the record, YES we do hate it when the nervous CPs get mandatoried to work rideout. We need more Florida/tropical home CPs! LOL

At least our newest Cast in Hawaii-ish DVC will not have any problem "manning up" for the storms.

We @ DL also appreciate Shorty as a CM. He is one of WDW Best CMs. :cool: Wish we could recruit him. :)

Well, I've not actually ridden out a storm yet, there's been no hurricanes to hit the area since I came to Disney. There was one tropical storm but it didn't get bad enough to close the parks so I didn't get called in.

I rode out Hurricane Ivan in 2004 back home, about 20 miles from the Gulf Coast. That was one scary storm. Disney is over 60 miles from the nearest coast line, no matter how strong a storm is when it makes landfall it'll be so weakened by the time it reaches here it'll be nothing compared to Ivan.

Nope..do not think that. All three hurricanes came ripping down I4. No resistance since we took almost all the trees away from the road...and road was big enough to provide a road map for it to follow.

It really mattered which side of I4 you were on as to how bad your damage was -- and which way the storm blew in.

Now try Andrew and be 6 miles off coast. THAT was a hell of a storm.

Hey now..no recruiting my peeps! Think you need to leave your eathquakes behind and join OUR team here!

Then again it is already hot as hell here.

Shorty..we may have to stage a takeover of DL for cooler weather!

:D: Well mapo, can't say I don't scout. Thanks for the offer. Think it was an offer. ;) Ca. quakes are nothing compared to your FL. storms. :eek: Not sure I'd be as confident in your wild storms, but I'd certainly voluntEar for the ride out crew. VoluntEaring is what I do best.

At least we know when a hurricane is coming and can prepare for it. There's no predicting an earthquake.
