Knotts Bringing Back Beary Tales?

I found it interesting to read some of the comments posted about the video, especially how Knott's is better at preserving legacy attractions than Disney.

I researched it and 12, arguably 13 if you count the fire wagon out of 18, of the original opening day Disneyland attractions are still in the Park. I don't think that is a bad ratio, 50 years down the road.

I guess that goes under inaccurate Guest Reasoning, as opposed to stupid tricks.

Hah, tomfoolery at best. Knott's only has the following "preserved" in the park:
Stagecoach
Log Ride
Mine Ride
Chicken Dinner Restaurant
Ghost Town (in a sense)
The Little Red Schoolhouse (Which was painted PURPLE before I left)
Denver Rio Grande Western & Southern locos and rolling stock
Independence Hall

Stuff that is still kinda there, but not really:
Pan For Gold (moved to make way for GhostRider)
Church of Reflections (demolished and built outside the park, not the same structure)
Sky Cabin (closed, and Parachute Jump removed)
Roaring 20's (the sign is still there, but that's about it)
Fiesta Village (NONE of the original attractions except Montezooma's Revenge are left)

And then of course, stuff that is LONG GONE:
"El Camino Real" Mission Dioramas
Volcano
Haunted Shack (removed for Vertigo! Which was removed for Screamin' Swing)
Wacky Soap Box Racers/Motorcycle Chase (Windjammer replaced, followed by Xcelerator)
Gasoline Alley (Same above)
Henry's Auto Livery (Same above)
Cable Cars (Parking lot area, removed)
Jungle Island (See below)
Adventure Island (now "Knott's Lagoon" but nothing is left of the original park)
Beary Tales/KoD
Mule Train (Relocated to parking lot, then removed for picnic grounds)
The original attractions of Fiesta Village (left with Bud Hurlbut)
Dolphin Show (Perilous Plunge took its place)
The ORIGINAL Berry Stand (Was around for AGES...it was taken out, blasphemous!)
The adjoining Boysenberry Patches/Bushes

So I mean, even counting the stuff that's kinda/sorta there, we're talking 10 or 11 historic Knott's Berry Farm icons still standing, but 15 historic parts of Knott's are also gone. And some of these things removed were entire lands, or integral to Knott's Berry Farm, such as the Original Berry Stand.

Actually, after going through the Orange County Archives photo account on Flickr, I would like to officially state that 95% of Knott's Berry Farm has died. There is almost NO preservation of legacy/original attractions at all. Mine Ride, Log Ride, Railroad, Stagecoach, Independence Hall, and Ghost Town are really all that's left. Period.

There is almost NO preservation of legacy/original attractions at all. Mine Ride, Log Ride, Railroad, Stagecoach, Independence Hall, and Ghost Town are really all that's left. Period.

Independence Hall isn't original, I can remember when they built it.

If we were going by original attractions, that list would be cut in half and it would just be a sad list of things that aren't there anymore. If we were going on opening attractions alone the list would be:
Chicken Dinner Restaurant
Stagecoach
Denver Rio Grande Western & Southern locos & rolling stock
Ghost Town

That would be the entire list....And they really only preserve the railroad. The rest of the stuff is left to rot.

I decided to include "legacy" attractions and "integral" parts of Knott's so at least there were things to write about. Mine Ride and Log Ride weren't original opening attractions either. Bud Hurlbut built both. Bud also had his hand in Independence Hall as well.

Long story short, Knott's has removed quite a bit of history and nostalgia once Cedar Fair took over. It's a Six Flags in the back and a museum up front. Bummer.

The Mission diorams, while shamefully not on exhibt, are somewhere in storage in the park. I was told where they were, but I can't remember the location. It would make for a great scavenger hunt/rescue operation.
