Stupid Guest Tricks

The NYT article takes some pretty large liberties... Several claims simply are not feasible, if not physically impossible all together. Not a bad fantasy story for Disney, though.

I especially liked this line:

What if Fantasyland is swamped with people but adjacent Tomorrowland has plenty of elbow room? The operations center can route a miniparade called "Move it! Shake it! Celebrate It!" into the less-populated pocket to siphon guests in that direction.

Yeah. When we start moving parades THROUGH Tomorrowland, let me know. I want to be there to see it. Or if we have, I owe someone an apology.

But I would think it could create a safety hazard to have a parade make an unscheduled turn... I know what happens when it is scheduled and runs at breakneck speed because of rain.

I saw that line and laughed. MiSiCi is not exactly a miniparade. Still runs SGs over just as easily as the headless horseman.

Well, not quite "through tomorrowland", but when they did the "Michael Phelps got a plethora of gold medals so he's going to Disneyworld" parade, they stepped off from the Toontown gate.

Then there was the sequel, FutureWorld. Also a nice little film.

Maybe they'll install a network of projectors all over the parks and put out a rainbow whenever it gets lonely somewhere -- follow the rainbow to the pot o' (fake) gold. Sending a stampede of guests through the parks sounds like a great idea...

Wow, that's... pretty amazing. The amount of extra work needed to run a parade from Toontown must have been staggering, especially considering the low overhead near the Teacups and the narrow walkways.

I've made the run to Toontown with the Firetruck a few times with the Family of the Day, and the only reason it was even possible was that only Main Street was open at that time.

Was this just the vehicles-only mini-parade, or a full parade with floats?

If I remember correctly, it was 1 convertible carrying Mickey and Michael Phelps, and 2 or 3 Orange County Sheriff's motorcycles, and a bunch of Disney Entertainment folks on foot carrying balloons and pom poms.
