Great news, FF. Thanks for sharing. Where are your new digs? God bless you and Tripod. Maybe your new "family" can adopt a new kitty. Do they allow pets?

I got Tripod's ashes last Monday. Now my friend and I have to look for a nice urn, though I did pick one out online. Tripod's collar no longer is on my right arm--it now encircles her box of cremains. I've been sleeping on my own bed--though a problem developed with the frame, but luckily one of my roomies had a spare frame she gave me. It feels so good not to be sleeping on a bench anymore!
I'm slowly but surely getting back into my old hygiene routine--twice daily face and teeth cleaning, daily bath, twice weekly shampoo, weekly face cleansing, monthly leg shave and brow tweeze, hair color every 6 weeks, haircut every 12 weeks. As soon as I get my clothes washed--washer and dryer coming today, hookup ASAP--I'm gonna changeclothes everyday. Today I plan on getting winter jammies so I don't have to sleep in my clothes anymore! :D:

Every 6 weeks for hair color is my schedule too. Wish it could be longer, but those grays are just to tough. Glad things are turning around. And being clean is one of the BEST feelings. :D:

Hmmm, the edit button seems to be missing. That last post where I said Tripod's collar was on my rightarm should read left.

Thanks, CBeilby. Now, why won't the bold work?
We're next door to Isaiah House. Any more detailed than that, and my roomies won't like it. ;)
One of the cats from the shelter comes over to get treats. We would like to have cats of our own, but right now, we have other fish to fry. One of my roomies is having some kind of problem--she took 4 showers in one day the other night, and she cleaned the shower floor too well, causing it to be slippery. One of my roommates who has CP slipped and fell in the shower last night. She's okay, just a little sore. She also accuses us of talking behind her back, and blows little things out of proportion. At this morning's house meeting, we told her if she doesn't get a handle on her issues, we might take a vote next week and vote her out. I hope it doesn't come to that, but....
Our landlady is very elusive; we have had a washer and dryer sitting in the laundry area for nearly a month, and it still isn't hooked up yet. We need heat, we need the plumbing fixed (we had a BAD plumbing problem a few weeks ago), and we have issues with the upstairs neighbors. I told my roomies I know an attorney who specializes in real estate law, but we don't want to go there. But I think we could have the attorney contact the landlady and tell her get her rear end in gear, as we also don't have a lease. Or not a copy of it. Dwight and Leigha, who run Isaiah House have tried to get ahold of her as well. Here's hoping she gets back to us. I don't want to go back to the shelter. None of us do.

Having worked in this field (1736 House in Hermosa Beach), permit me to suggest that reaching out to your landlady *through* Isaiah House will likely be more effective and faster than using a lawyer.
Should that utterly fail, as in Isaiah House staff give up or refuse to get involved, then promptly contacting a lawyer is your best bet.
In either case, do not delay. You deserve a copy of your lease, the landlady is probably obliged to provide heat, and if the lease includes laundry equipment, you can bill her for all your laundromat costs (other than soap).
But do this only on advise of Isaiah House staff or your lawyer! Tenancy laws are complex, and often hinge on small points of grammar in the lease, which is why getting a copy is the first piece of business.
