This is a very sad tragedy and suicide is a very serious subject. You never know what is going through the mind of any person, which is what makes suicide a shock sometimes.

However I hope this doesn't open the company to another lawsuit, as that's all the rage these days. I can think of 30 different angles to sue on, I'm sure there are plenty of ambulance chasers knocking on the family's door as we speak. Unfortunately... some of those angles are funny; if they make it to the news this won't be healthy for the family.

I hope the family just seeks some grief counseling and respectfully takes care of their loss.

Whoa, I was around the parking structure just before it happened, then I went over to TDA (Halloween Party). Crazy. Sad, and a little eerie.

My condolences.

When an alumni from my University returned to campus many years after graduating to end his life by jumping, some people took it as insult against the University, but it was explained by the counselors on hand to deal with that situation, that people often choose places where they once felt safe to end their existence. He came back to school because he remembered it as a place where he was safe, accepted and understood, and people would be sympathetic to his suicide, rather than angry at him over it.

I hardly think it's a stretch to think one might feel safe, accepted, understood at Disney... I mean, that's the magic. Disney makes foks feel like they're special appreciated people. It could be, as sad and unfair a burden on CMs and guest witnesses alike that it would be, that he didn't believe his friends and family would be sympathetic to his pain. He may well have thought it was the only place people would care that he'd died.

I don't think he meant to ruin it for others on a conscious level, but more of wanting to know that he would be noticed and found. The reminders are EVERYWHERE,as Disney items and ads can not be avoided. I just meant that his death really sucks for Him AND his Family and Friends-my ex tried a couple times before just ending up doing it passively (passed out in the ocean while intoxicated). As sad as it was for him, my concerns are for his and my kids.

Well, Hobie, the boat (which was quite decrepit), ended up in the possession of one of the Boat Mechanics in Catalina......Ex never took care of anything,so
it was the best thing to get rid of it
It cost him $65,000,but a title search showed he never even registered it in his name. I was glad we had signed it over to the mechanic when the Catalina Island Sheriff was looking for someone to fine
