Droppin a shot glass into a beer is called a 'depth-charge'. The trick is to chug it down before the shot glass hits you in the teeth.

You dont want the shot to mix in the glass! The foaming would waste good beer !
Now, shall we create one using RUM?? Boddingtons & Appleton sounds good !

usually those were with tequila, but basically its the same thing.
beer in a mug, take a goog gulp, the drop in the shot glass, commence the chug. (or drink it on the side if you are a wuss.)
(a variation, when in the military, was that if you got the foam on your uniform, you had to buy a round)

At restaurants when they ask if I want a glass of water, I will respond "No, it causes rust unless properly diluted with Scotch."
