We love them Image

Other guests can buy them also so no discrimination. They cost 80 Euro per day per person.
I've said it before and I'll say it again...if FP must exist, I personally, would prefer they did charge for it. At least then I would know that they got special treatment because they paid for it. That I could live with.

There, the fast pass distribution is factored into estimating the wait time, and a specific ratio of FP-Standby is issued. When you get a FP, you are stuck in a virtual queue, you are having to wait for your slot to come up still, it's not like you skip ahead of people in standby, most of the time the people in standby will get on the ride before you if you grab a FP at the same time.
I had a "discussion" once with someone on a Usenet group who thought it was perfectly fine to use FP to hold a virtual place in line but totally wrong to save a place for my family to watch one of the parades. I always thought it was two sides of the same coin.

Exactly...but try convincing avid FP fans of that comparison. There is no difference except that "FP" is sanctioned.

I think paying for FP would be wrong. I'm glad the service is free

Because you can hold a spot in line for your family all day as much as you want. FP has limits on it, plus everyone has an equal opportunity to use FP. I don't see a problem with you holding a spot for your family for a parade as long as your family is not an entire brazilian tour group, but maybe you + 3 others as long as you clearly mark the right amount of space.

It's never been more than 4 adults and 2 moppets. The person I was discussing this with had the same analogy. I think her problem was that she'd been off using her FP and once she'd finish there was no room at the inn so to speak. "Ya makes ya' choices and takes ya' chances." I agree about the Brazilian tour group scenario though. We could get into a discussion about parade etiquette but that's a horse of a different color. :seahorse:

How is the FastPass system giving anyone "special treatment" when everyone has the same capability to obtain and use them?

I am going to answer that question because it is an often expressed sentiment but after that I am going to drop out of this discussion because, in the long haul it doesn't matter what I think about it. Even I use FP because I now feel that I have to in order to see what I want. Never had that problem before, we would be in line but always reasonable times and we could see everything.

To answer the question...NO, that is not true. Not everyone has the capability to obtain and use them. They are issued in limited numbers. They are NOT available for everyone. Let's assume that absolutely everyone that was going to attend a park arrived at the same time and all went to Soarin, for example, to get a FP, not everyone that got there all at an equal time, will get one. Only about 30 percent of them have a chance. Not 100%. Therefore, by the nature of it FP is not available to everyone. The remaining 70% are then, with no choice, required to be in standby. And to make matters worse their time in standby is exponentially increased by every FP that was issued.

That means the 30% are happy campers and 70% are discontent. I don't call that a good business goal, especially if you are banking on a lot of repeat business. I, personally, would rather have 70% repeat than 30%. If my thoughts are correct the whole idea was to get "guest" out of line, spending money on other things. From everything I have read, that didn't happen, so this is a red herring that no one knows how to get rid of.

No, it's not exponentially increased. There's no way that could possibly be true. That's not how math works.
