Its also my understanding that its a fireable offence to willing let an under height kid on a ride.

The scenario would be Mom ,baby and child 5 year would enter a waiting line.
Coming up front a CM would accompanie, babysit or "ride sit" the five year old IN THE RIDE, so actually ride the ride with the kid. Mom and the baby would wait at the exit.
Oh, you mean like a ride - along. I do it several times at Astro Orbitor, when we have the staffing for it. If we have like a third person, at least two people to operate the ride, the extra would be greeter or ride with a child that is too young to ride.

The rule is that the child is at least 7 years or older or accompanied by someone who is at least 54" or 16 years of age or older.

Why would a CM ever do this? False sexual allegations may be result, and Disney has deep pockets

I've had people ask me to watch the short snowflake so that they can ride the ride with the snowflake that is tall enough to ride. God forbid Mommy and Daddy are inconvenienced in any way.

I did on one occasion befriend a frightened child, talk him through his imminent tantrum, and ride my attraction with him sitting next to me - his mother/guardian/responsible adult rode in the next row back with the rest of the party and was never out of arms' reach of the child. That's as close as I'd be willing to come to assuming responsibility for a guest.

Let me be crystal clear on this....HELL NO!

Oh, do we need to post the number for Security again? This way it will be easier for WDW to follow the proper process on contacting DCF and having said children "baby sat" indefinitely while Mommy is on her new vacation.

Ok, so I misunderstood the original question.

So, now that I know the question. :) Yes, we do actually do that, as FantasmicDan as said, I've personally only encountered it at Gadget's and I don't know if it's still allowed to be done, but yeah, we'd do ride alongs pretty frequently on that attraction. Mind you, it's a coaster that's less than a minute long (52 seconds I believe) so it's not like anything can go all that terribly wrong. Most of the time it was a case of mom has a 3 year old and 5 year old and both are a little nervous and want to ride with mom, but we can only have 2 guests per acorn so a spare CM (often the lead) is called and they sit with one of the children, but I have seen it done with mom, child tall enough, and child not tall enough.

And for attractions without large lockers, isn't that what duffel bags are for?
