Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

I don't see the humor in those stickers either...
Here's a Canadian customs story for you. When I was thirteen (obviously MANY years pre-9/11) my dad took my sister and I to Ottawa to see the World Figure Skating Championships (my sister had a Scott Hamilton obsession at the time).
My mother didn't let me take my birth certificate for fear I'd 'lose it'. I had no ID at ALL. My parents let me leave the country without ID...
We got to Toronto for the connecting flight and they sent me to Immigration. I was trying to be brave but utterly terrified and in tears. I looked about 18 back then (I seem to be aging backwards they tell me I hope the trend continues) and my father almost got arrested arguing with the customs people that I 'was his, and wherever she goes I go'.
They asked me why I was there, I tried to say the most American thing I could think of- I said "I'm only here to see Scott Hamilton skate and I'm going to go home in two days."
I still can't believe they let me go- and that the US let me back into the country.
My parents. GEEZ.
This year, I finally got a passport. I feel like a grown up now...
