My first true SGs
Re: My first true SGs
Guests waiting for the last minute to ride? Hmmm...
Reminds me of two guests I had @ Xcelerator back in 2006. We had closed the ride and the park, and these two guests found it necessary to move the trashcans blocking our entrance and run up our line claiming that they were in line before park closing (wrong) and weren't going to get out of line. We told them we weren't going to let them ride, which didn't go over well. They SHOVED guests out of the way when we opened the loading gates and plopped down in the seats and locked their lapbars.
Too bad that they now have locked themselves into a ride that we weren't going to send..We called security and had them promptly removed whilst they cussed us out and told us how the whole crew will be fired. After they were removed, we loaded our guests (last train of the night) and closed up. When we closed up, we saw the two guests being walked out in handcuffs by security.

RIP Bud Hurlbut.

They pull this on the characters too. Little Suzie wanted to meet Snow White all week long, but now that they have to leave they are coming to meet SW, and me the big bully and horrible beast are not letting her have her dream come true. ARE YOU HAPPY?! YOU HAVE MADE MY DAUGHTER CRY! is what they scream constantly. In the mean time you look at little Suzie who has no trace of tears and is happily playing with her siblings.
Folks just because you didn't plan things ahead, doesn't mean we didn't have it available, or the CM are bullies. If ridding Dumbo or meeting a princess was that important then prioritize and do that first. Don't wait until the last minute and then make it all my fault, trust me I won't loose sleep over it.
What is always astonishing is how adults behave in front of their children, then bitch about how their kids treat them. Um... have you seen how you treats other adults? Whatever behavior little Suzie is doing, she learn it from you. Sometimes kids worst examples and worst bullies are the parents themselves.

Heck, you don't need to have a death in the family. I can't count the times I've seen some idiots trying to waltz their way across either as a parade approaches or while it's running. Then you have the people who think they'll wait 'til the last minute and then slip under the ropes at MK to cut in front of the folks who've waited for an hour+. Not happening. There's the walkway folks>>>>> and there's the back of the crowd.mapo wrote:Yup, I am meanie....a Dream Killer....Un Disney.....hmm, what else today...oh a prime example of why Disney is losing money! YUP..that is me *today*.
"I have to leave right now..I must cross the parade route cause we just had a death in the family. I must go now!"
Yes, people SUCK.

Are you kidding me?!?! Geez...we usually walk around and do meet and greets with the characters, but there are times where we do seek them out. I think in 2006 we were seeking Snow White...looking EVERWHERE for her. I asked a CM at every opportunity where I could find her. We finally cornered (kidding!) her in Germany. It just seemed that we "just missed" her every time. And it was almost the last day or two, I think, but if we hadn't seen her, we would've told the kids "next time". And anytime we've gone after, we always see her in Town Square with Dopey.Tinker Bell wrote:They pull this on the characters too. One day I will meet Frontierland Donald, though!!! That's one mission for our trip next March.

I always told my kids "It's ok, we now have a reason to come back again real soon."DragonFox98 wrote: I think in 2006 we were seeking Snow White...looking EVERWHERE for her. When you don't find a character go to GR and ask them they have a way to find out the exact times. Oh and Frontierland Donald now leaves for Parade at 3:00 and doesn't come be sure to meet him before 2:30pm.

Just a little update..call it a mini briefing ;)Tinker Bell wrote:When you don't find a character go to GR and ask them they have a way to find out the exact times. Oh and Frontierland Donald now leaves for Parade at 3:00 and doesn't come be sure to meet him before 2:30pm.
Any CM working at WDW or DL can call the CHIP Hot Line and have them "look up on that characters' PDA" for when and where the character will be available next. I do remind the guest that of course like all of our schedules, they are subject to change, but the Character plans to be at X at Y time.
Yes, I like having a spiel for everything... :p:
This is a reminder from your friendly lil MAPO...you are now returned to your regularly scheduled briefing...probably already in progress.

Character finder # is in our DLR CRG. I would hope most CMs have the # memorized. Perhaps the 3rd most asked guest question.

Re: My first true SGs
When we were there, we sort of just took everything as it came. By that I mean, we didn't go nuts trying to find the characters for the kids. If they saw 'em, great! If not, no biggie - we'll come back again at some point. We also made a point of doing a character breakfast so that they'd have a chance to interact with characters without having to chase them down through the parks.
I know meeting the characters are big for some families; for us, it just didn't matter that much. The only one we HAD to meet was The Big Guy, and we did that during our 'Ohana breakfast. Speaking of which...I was pretty impressed. 'Ohana made me just a little homesick. The only thing it was lacking was the proper smell - if they'd pumped in the smell of plumeria and pikake flowers, I'd probably have stayed all day.
