I have a few Custodial friends @ DCA. Trust me, Code V is called @ Maliboomer, & you are correct - not a sight one wishes for.

I live about two miles from WDW's launch site. Yes, the fireworks can easily be seen from my house, and all our guests like the watch them. It can be very loud here, especially if it's cloudy that night. I knew what I was buying into, though, and it doesn't bother me. They need to move past it, or just move.
For the record, I can also hear the trains when they blow their whistles. And, if the wind is right, you can just barely hear the music associated with the fireworks. :)

Then maybe you should come stay with me next time you're out here. Not only can you hear the train whistles, you can actually hear them rumbling by sometimes even with all the doors and windows closed. :)

Mom always said that she was no longer interested in fireworks when we lived in Orange. I would go out to the rear parking lot of the complex and watch them. Mom said that when Dad was stationed in Manila in the early 50s, and she came with him with my older brother and sister, they had fireworks shows that beat what they have today. The most impressive one was where the fireworks went off in the sky and made a picture of Gen. Douglas MacArthur. Of course, he was a hero then; today, who would we put up?
