The park just opened for the season a couple of weeks ago. I probably won't get to check out the changes until Memorial Day weekend, if my crew winds up doing the fireworks display. I haven't had much of a chance to walk through the park for a while but if Cedar Fair can get the Shows Dept. going again, I won't complain too much. PGA had no shows running in the Pictorium (IMAX) or "Showtime" (It will always be Theatre Royale to me!) Theaters for the last couple of years leading up to the sale.

I will miss the Hanna Barbarra carousel over in what used to be Fort Fun. You could stick your head in JabberJaws' mouth and then there were the bad jokes we'd make about sitting on Yogi's lap. ;)

Isnt it !! However thats international street, not main street ! Surely by naming the street differently no one would notice any similarity... And the fake mountain has TWO rollercoasters on or through it, not just one.

Oh, dear, that's right. My niece might not like the fact that Scooby-Doo isn't there any more. Not sure if she is familiar with Snoopy and such.

Just saw last night where Knott's missed being sold to another company--the stockholders, including descendants of Walter and Cordelia Knott, objected, so the sale was canceled.

Yup. And they are the two oldest tubular steel coasters in the world, too.

Cedar Fair (the parent company of Cedar Point Park, Knott's Berry Farm,et al) had agreed to be purchased by Apollo Investment Group. Apollo is a private investment group that owns several companies including Harrah's Casino and a major cruise line company (I think it's Norwegian) among many things.
Cedar Fair is a public company (NYSE ticker symbol:FUN) and Apollo offered $11.50 per share, an offer many major CF shareholders felt was too low. (I checked the stock price yesterday and it closed at $12.50) Steve Knott, a grandson of Walter Knott, objected to the deal, was one the major dissenters. Cedar Fair is a limited partnership, the Knott family still has a stake in Knott's Berry Farm.
Personally I think there was more than just shareholder objection and as a Knott's employee that's as far as I'm going to go.
Who's to say what would have happened if Apollo bought Cedar Fair. It may have been good or bad. We'll never know.
Right now, a lot of Knott's employees are going "Now what"?

Is Marion, the last of the Knott children, still alive? I only read the bit of front page of a newspaper in the rack as I was passing by, so I didn't get details. Yes, I knew about the limited parnership thing, etc.. Knott's is the only park owned by Cedar Fair that's open year-round, mainly because it's in California. Yeah, I'll bet everybody there was wondering if this would be a good or bad thing. Frankly, I think Cedar Fair is the worst thing to happen to Knott's, because most of the attractions guests come to see are no longer there, just because CF wanted to make KBF like the rest of their parks. In other words, they sucked the soul out of Walter and Cordelia's dream. The Knott's wanted to educate people about their Western heritage, and the only thing left is the ranger station near Bigfoot Rapids. Even Smokey the Bear has left. The missions display has long been gone, and I understand they're in storage, in poor condition. I remember when I worked there that I had to tell lots of guests that the classic attraction they sought no longer existed. A few had come all the way across the country or the world to see something that wasn't there anymore. Really sad. The Haunted Shack was a biggie.

Would that be the Matterhorn? I was only thinking of Floridas' mountains.
