I found it very interesting, btw, that almost every news source is saying a WDW bus hit and killed a kid, but the news out here (at least the one channel that I sort of watched) said a kid hit a bus and was killed. Completely changes things with that slight change in wording.Syndrome wrote: The kid hit the bus. Accept it and move on!

Given the thousands of passenger miles Disney racks up every year, you'd be fairly safe.

But admitting that their perfect precious little snowflake hit the bus instead of the bus viciously and maliciously attacking the poor innocent child without provocation means that they can't sue Disney for millions of dollars.Syndrome wrote:The kid hit the bus. Accept it and move on!
There's no place like 127.0.0.1
Re: Yet ANOTHER Disney Bus Accident (Saturday)
Without getting into specifics, know that the responders and investigators for Disney and law enforcement know what they are doing. Even initial comments and revisions are taken into account.Lasolimu wrote:But admitting that their perfect precious little snowflake hit the bus instead of the bus viciously and maliciously attacking the poor innocent child without provocation means that they can't sue Disney for millions of dollars.
Plus courtesy of our ghouls in the media, we have on the record images of vehicle placement immediately after this accident.
While I do feel deeply for the family and their loss, I feel just as deeply for the CM that is unable to escape the constant media attention and second guessing that will go on for a long time. Even the Saturday accident has not deterred these ghouls (media and others) from rehashing the death of the child and even Austin's death on the beam.
Also, this type of incident at the FORT is why Disney tries to limit vehicular traffic in the FORT. It is not a short cut, it is not an attraction, it is a location filled with campers enjoying an alternate vacation style in the Florida wilderness.
No, you cannot drive around to 'look'...no, you cannot park at Pioneer Hall for dining...no, you cannot/should not be using the facilities to 'play' if you are not a resident (camper or cabin lodger). This is not River Country...this is a camping area with two pools for resident guests.
No, you cannot use your skateboard/rollerskates/roller blades or atv here. Or anywhere at WDW. You are unable to control yourself in a safe manner on these different surfaces in what is a congested area..especially in our busy times. Do not even get me started on heelies.
Maybe the silver lining is that guests and "wanna be" guests will start listening when they are told NO; too many just wait for the CM to leave the area and do what they want anyway.
Again, nothing but sympathy for the family and I cannot imagine their loss. If they need to blame someone, let them.
However, I once again hope and believe that there is a special place in hell for the muck rakers that continue to draw upon their pain for their own personal gain.

Re: Yet ANOTHER Disney Bus Accident (Saturday)
I had originally put that in a different Accident thread... but it fits better here. So here it is:
I've driven that bus route many times. I used to love driving the Fort for a night here and there. I know that sidewalk, and I know well the type of bus. In order for the child to be pulled under the rear wheels took an incredible combination of events at just the right time. However, we all know that these freaky combinations of events do happen from time to time.
The mother is saying that the bus came up on the curb to hit the child. Um... If that bus had come up on the curb, there would be so much obvious damage that there would be no way to dispute it... and chances are, the girl who was completely unharmed would have to have been run over as well.
While I can't understand what she is going through, it seems to me that this mother is trying to defend her son's honor or something, in a case where that is just not necessary.
I can't help but think that the statements she is making don't sound like those of a mourning mother, but rather they sound like setup for legal action. The fact that she was sounding like that on the same day leads me to believe that some lawyer contacted her and is coaching her. The sad part of that is that, since Disney is NOT responsible and there is no reason that Disney really owes her anything... she will not receive anything, but some lawyer is going to get rich off her and off of fighting "for" her. Many of her statements don't even make any sense, but sound like an attempted legal argument. Interesting, as well, that she, for the sake of a press conference, put the bike he was riding in their back yard and had reporters photograph it. I can't put a finger on it, but there is something that sounds contrived about the mother, and I don't think it's coming from her personally.
Don't tell me you can't see one of several lawyers who advertise daily in Orlando doing that, complete with a well-rehearsed concerned voice and sympathetic look.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?
Re: Yet ANOTHER Disney Bus Accident (Saturday)
so sad - thank you for adding the details and insight that both of you have -
I heard, and saw the clip, and couldnt imagine the bus being at fault - I couldnt figure out how a child could hit the side of the bus - and not see it - until I realized the sidewalk was alongside the bus route...(in my mind the sidewalk crossed the street - boy hit bus broadside on route)
is there any way that there was a wind draft that could've knocked the kid off balance?
(again, no blame, only sympathy for all surrounding this tragic accident - esp the bus driver having to deal with the media whores... will Disney provide him with counseling? or any other assistance?)

Due to company policy, we are unable to give details or comment beyond "we take care of our own. The CMs involved will have many resources available for as long as needed."mousefan wrote: (again, no blame, only sympathy for all surrounding this tragic accident - esp the bus driver having to deal with the media whores... will Disney provide him with counseling? or any other assistance?)
