Syndrome wrote:Surprisingly I haven't seen any crazy kid antics this Easter season. Closest I came was getting whacked in the butt a few times with a Buzz Lightyear doll in the Up character line, but "whacked" is a relative term (toddler age kid so there was no "oomph" in his blows plus my butt has plenty of padding...more amusing than anything). Mr. Syndrome, who was in a good position to observe, said he was smacking in on the ground too and had managed to crack poor Buzz's helmet. I did hear his mom make all sorts of threats to confiscate it; normally I would have turned around to observe more closely, but I was still traumatized from the Great Toilet Flood.
Why do parents threaten with things that they have no intention of following through on? It accomplishes nothing except teaching the kid that mommy and daddy don't mean what they say. My daughter knows that if mommy says she's going to do something, she will. She knows it well enough, that I once used the, behave or we're leaving Disneyland threat once and she didn't even test it. Ok, so I am a CM and we go to the park all the time so it's easier for me to make that threat and stick with it, but still, I said it and she knew I meant business.

Things will be extra crowded when Demon Spawn propagate before they are

Why oh why is it that it seems like the people who are the meanest and rudest in all the world are also often the most fertile???

Too stupid to use birth control?
The movie Idiocracy wouldn't be nearly as funny as it is if I couldn't actually see it happening. :(

My kids would NOT like what their worlds would become if they spoke to anyone like that. They can be little hellions at home, but out in public....they better be respectful and polite.... I think that kind of behavior totally reflects on the parents in most cases. I say most cases because I have noticed on occasion if one of my kids hangs out with another neighborhood child who acts like and SG....the SG tendencies tend to rub off until we de-brainwash them. When we go anywhere...we've taught them to ask, be courteous and THANK people (especially CMs and employees who help them out or answer their questions). I was never so proud of them as I was on their first trip to WDW a few years back. I was wondering what alien dropped in and switched out my children..lol.

That movie is like a documentary from the future. I see us getting closer and closer everyday...and I don't think it will take as long as the movie portrayed.

Hi all! I lurk here quite a bit, but I haven't really posted anything in a long time!

I know! I was just in the MK this past Wednesday. I normally won't go near that place during such a busy time, but my parents were in town for my 6 year old son's spring break, and wanted to go to a park... so I braved it.
At the end of the night, my son really wanted one of those light-up swords (which I hate with a passion) and my mom decides to get him one. I told him about not swinging it around, and he got one warning. He was careless with it again and I snatched it away. He didn't get it back til we were in the parking lot. Maybe I'm a mean mommy, but he needs to know I mean business!
I was really nervous about the crowds that day, but it really wasn't that bad. All the CM's were super, and Disney really seemed prepared for the worst. We only had one issue with groups of teens trying to cut in line at Pirates. some of them got by us, and I was like, "Oh no you don't."
Fortunately I'm a tall girl, and I made my parents (who normally would have just let them go by, but not me!) form a barrier so the rest couldn't get by. The teens never said anything to me directly but I could hear them muttering about me. I just ignored them. Finally they all got behind us, but they still kept trying to scoot around every chance they got, but no luck. Stuff like that really makes me mad, but I try to let it go.
But I really don't like those big wide open queue areas, like Pirates or Soarin. it makes it really easy for people to cut in line. If I'd been alone, there wouldn't have been much I could do.

Not a mean mommy at all, a good and responsible mommy. :)

Overheard today* (if you were on the platform with me):
Me, to teen sitting on a gate: Please come down from there.
Mom: Don't you tell my son what to do!
Me, to Mom: Ma'am, please. That gate is a very dangerous place to be sitting.
Mom: That's for me to decide. The worst that could happen is he could fall.
Me: You're right, ma'am. The worst thing that could happen is that he would fall. Onto the bus bar at the bottom of this trough. That bus bar has six hundred-and-some-change volts running through it right now. Please. Humor me. I don't want to be around if your son falls on that bus bar, because as I understand it, a human body hitting six hundred volts is not, from what I understand, a very pleasant experience.
Previously-mentioned teen, now with saucer-shaped eyes, slinks to his feet.
Me, to kid: Thank you for having some common sense about that.
Please note that during this exchange I was ready to drop power if either A) the kid had faltered, or B) a train had approached the station with him still up there.
That's actually one of four encounters I had with guests sitting on railings. In the other three, I was in a train entering the station and almost E-Stopped the train on all three counts.
*My today. Meaning, I am still up. It's not Sunday yet for me at the time I write this.
