Awesome. Friday is the day of the actual contest, and we'll be performing early -- probably around 10:30 a.m. We'll sing at Saturday's quartet finals only if we win on Friday. It'll be around 6:00 p.m. if we do. Both are ticketed events held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. If we do win Friday and sing Saturday, though, we'll probably have a rehearsal sometime Saturday afternoon, free and open to the publicleftcoaster wrote:I live in South Jersey, so maybe that Friday (depends if I'm off or not), or Saturday, I might be able to head into the city. :D:
Zazu wrote:When in Philly, try to find an evening to dine at the City Tavern, just a mile from your hotel (or less if you take the Metro). Four blocks from Independence Hall, but the tavern was there first. Outstanding food in an historic setting.
Awesome, thanks! This is just the kind of inside information I like!leftcoaster wrote:...Good cheesesteak: Tony Luke's on Oregon Ave.
I've actually heard of the Mummers, believe it or not, and I'd probably really enjoy the museum. I suspect I won't have time for it, though -- my short few days there are most filled with rehearsals and performances, so my sightseeing time is pretty limited. (I may be lucky to be able just to drive past Independence Hall! :o :) I'll let me family know about it, though, since they'll have more touring time.Main Streeter wrote:BRWombat, if you have time while in Philly treat yourself to The Mummers Museum. Such great fun, beautiful costumes, & cool old music. Very interesting history too. I'd never heard of The Mummers or their Jan. 1 parade before we went to Philly. Had so much fun at the Mummers Museum. Absolutely fell down laughing a few times. Those guys rock!
