On Dec 6, we went to Epcot during the day and getting through security was the normal procedure of a cursory look through our bags. When we went to MK that night for the party boy had things changed. All of a sudden even if you had a travel wallet around your neck you had to go through the bag check and strollers too. You literally had to have NO BAGS whatsoever to go through the no bag line and they were really checking EVERY SINGLE LITTLE POCKET of our bags at the bag check. They even made us open up our travel wallets to look inside.
Nope...you just finally experienced an actual bag check. As you said, you had a cursory check at EPCOT. At MK, you had a bag check.

Yep, I agree. How good the check is depends on the mood of the guard doing the search in my experience. I've had cursory searches and I've had full out check every little pocket searches, in the same day! I visit the parks quite regularly as a guest (about once a week) and I always have my camera bag with me. I've had them just check the main pockets and I've had them check every pocket thoroughly. I don't mind the more thorough checks, they're a bit more secure IMO.

Disney reserves the right to check all bags and packages. There are signs where MK cast get on the shuttle into the park (where security is) that state "For the safety of our Guests and Cast all bags will be searched at entrances to the Magic Kingdom". There are also a number of signs in backstage areas reminding cast that bags may be checked at anytime.

Security just issued a reminder about the bag checks to cast as all packages will be searched, even if they are wrapped, so to either use a gift bag or leave gifts unwrapped until in the park when bringing in gifts for coworkers.

While not perfect (what is?) the bag checks make the parks a little bit safer. They act as deterrents and, heck, it stopped the idiot that tried to bring in a bunch of marijuana into the park and got the drugs off the street.

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious…
and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

Is a bale of pot as big as a bale of hay? I've been to Tennessee and a bale of hay is darn big.

The guy's bag must had been very big. Leave tha stuff at home and don't bring it into the parks. I have seen bales of hey in Oregon. At least 6 ft tall and 8 ft wide. Did he need a fork life to get that into the large bag? How long would that much pot put him in the slammer for?

IDK how the OP is using the term, but I am assuming it would be a brick.

(thanks, now I am dreaming of Tennessee bale sized bales of MJ)

Security guy used the word bale, but I bet it was brick since it had to fit in his bag.

When I worked in that area we would call a bale, anything above a kilo (2.2 pounds) up to about 8 or ten kilos. the slang varied on different sizes and amounts over the years.

good times.

I was watching tv-"cops" and so stupid driver was being chased by the police. They put a tire strip out and the tires on the car did not loose pressure. The police finally got the dude to stop. They let the K-9 on him. The dog barked at criminal and also went sniffing around the car. The driver filled the insides of the tires with pot. Not to bright dude.
