I wonder if the thirteen footer was Rock-It's big brother? :D: He did tell a guest near the end of the video he gets alot of comments about his height, but actually he's the little one in his family--you should see his big brother. :p:

But Rock-It was funnier; Showbot just said he could be funny, but instead of saying something amusing, there was just a rimshot.

One of the plans by Rock-It's creator was to have feet like a velociraptor, using gyros so that the CG could actlually be a few feet behind and above where the feet met the ground. He talked me through the entire thing.

He also takes Disney's approach... to him the robots are alive, and so when he goes to work with them, you never see him or them together. Each piece of the robot often has special effects, and the face movements come from electrodes on his face. It takes 10-20 minutes to prepare the robot for each set.

I don't know how ShowBot works.
