Oh hobie, my sincerest condolances on your loss. RIP indeed, little iPod...

I got my first Nano in 05 I think it was and I still miss it. It works, but it just didn't hold enough music and seemed to have issues all the time after iTunes 7 came out (otherwise known as the day I thought I lost my whole library and was screaming like a girl.) Wait...

I have one of the last nanos before they came out with that 'shake' shuffle thing which to me just seems a bad idea. I mean didn't they come up with stabilization features on the innards of these things for a reason? Heaven knows I wish they still made one without video- when I said that to an Apple Genius he looked at me and said "You are officially the only person in the world who didn't want video added to the Nano." At least now I know at least one other person liked the 'music only' players.

No way I could fit my collection on anything but a full sized iPod..someday I'll get one. right now, I'm still picking and choosing songs to give up everytime I buy something new...though I do love the fact that the thing plays wav files.

So are you gonna get a new one? (player)

I have to. It's my music source to beat my brains out (play drums) in the garage. I already ordered a 30 Gig Touch.

The stabilization is only needed on the iPod's, since it is like carrying around a hard-drive, with spinning things inside. The touch/phone, nano and shuffle are all flash memory based, no moving parts :)

Oh, just because it it capable of Video, it doesn't mean you have to use it, although the new nano with video is cool. I want one.

I need help...

I need help.
That's great. The first step to Recovery is admitting you have a problem :D: .

The next step to Recovery is moving beyond the admitting you have a problem stage to treating said problem.

The third stage to recovery is realizing that life is too short to worry about small stuff, and just do what you want!

I thought you actually wanted that to be step 1.5, you know, so you realize it before you start doing any actual work. :p:

I found myself holding one of my tech's new iPhone 3GS and wishing it was January so I could order mine (yes, the company buys them for us (new development, I had to buy my own 3G)).
I sat at my desk and was browsing the Apple site. I spent last night looking through the window of the Apple store watching people happily buying their new toys.

Then there are the movies...
Yeah, my husband says he's "only" got 90GB on his 120GB iPod. We do have a lot of music that overlaps, but not all of it. He'd probably be okay, until he added my Christmas music. (Many metalheads think I'm a terrible metalhead with my fondness for all types of Christmas music. I blame my dad.)

But for long car rides, MP3 players are SO much better than the bucket of CDs we used to pack. And it allows us to be indecisive so much longer!

As odd as it may sound, have you tried to throw it without too much force against a carpeted floor? My 2nd gen iPod gave me the dreaded sad iPod icon. It made me so sad! I looked online and someone had suggested to throw it. I did and if cans back to life enough for me to get all my music out. It gave me the icon again as soon as I pulled it off the computer and I dis it again. It came back to life and is still kicking four months later. It's on it's last leg though and I think I am going to gave to suck it up and transfer to the phone. Sigh.
