Because once you do all of the "fund terrorists" arguments die. Also now you can control things like the purity, what they're cut with and so on, so it becomes a little bit safer. And then you can tax it to the extreme, so no longer are you paying money trying to stop it, you are making money giving people what they want. Also, suddenly we can start researching these chemicals again looking for cures or treatments for serious illnesses. But I am clearly just a pot smoking hippie despite having never taken any recreational drugs, so what do I know right?
sorry but that is not going to work, too many people become addicted. addiction has many forms and there are some poor people that cannot control their lives because of that.

Not to mention if the government made it legal, they could tax the heck out of it. but there is too much money for the government in keeping pot not legal. Any one in school during the 80's? remember the way they would send police in and tell you how bad drugs were and how you should NEVER do drugs. Now think back to being in elementary school during this time. had you ever heard of pot until they came in? Me neither. They pushed it into our faces. Now think about what happens when you tell your children DO NOT DO THAT!! the first thing they want to do is "THAT".
And then there were the undercover cops that would actually go into the schools as students and push drugs. Kids that would have never done drugs get them pushed onto them. They then get hooked. they grow up, get a job, a home car, ect. then the cops bust in, arrest them and take all their stuff.
BUT WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT????
You really think the taxes you pay is what buys the police all their special toys and cars and stuff?
:end lesson:
undercover cops pushing drugs in school? really? what t.v. show did you see that one on?
a lot of the "talking points" that are being made are simply not true and will not work within our current framework.
look at at medical marijuana storefronts.
suprise suprise, a lot of them were not selling to the people that needed "medical help" but were making thousands in profit (which, by the way, is not allowed under the medical marijuana dispensary regulations)
as it stands now, it is a disaster. and truth be known mariosol can be used to combat the illness for the cancer paitents.
also, I don't really think its smart to be posting about putting narcotics into the foods being sold at disney.
I know you are probably just jumping on the bandwagon with the vocal minority to legalize marijuana, but it really would have an adverse effect on those that cannot control their use.
don't believe it, look at the millions being spent on combating alcohol abuse. and before you start with the yeah, but.. points about the differences, it is still a narcotic that DOES inhibit your preceptions.
