At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

Snopes.com is the WORST source for info. Most of their false claims are true and vice versa.jsilvers wrote:And an urban legend. See http://www.snopes.com/crime/clever/carpark.asp.

And that is based on...?Honda Enoch wrote:Snopes.com is the WORST source for info. Most of their false claims are true and vice versa.
I have found that their points on research that they do on a legend to be pretty complete.
and they do welcome any input if you have conflicting information and/or proof.

They welcome information ONLY if it helps prove their side. I personally have sent conflicting information and proof on some of their claims only to have them ignored/rejected.
Snopes is worse then Wikipedia for facts and information.

hmm, I have submitted information that disproved something and they accepted it. They were kind enough to tell me that many other people had submitted the same information.Honda Enoch wrote:Based on FACTS.

I did cite facts and not opinions on the subject matter, which is their criteria for investigating and evaluating the true/not true/possible catagories that they have.
If you based your opinion at snopes on all of the information that they have gathered, on them rejecting your submission, then that seems more like an emotional decision rather one based on the facts they have accumelated on various stories and legends.
I find their collection on Disney to be very interesting, and in the past, several CMs that post here have verified them as ture (unoffical of course)
that is also a very good point.CujoSR wrote:Give me a site on the internets that is right all the time and i'll have a bridge to sell you.
when using snopes, I will also run the story and/or urban legend through several other urban legend web sites. I do read a lot of the sources cited on snopes and other sites.
I have not yet found a conflict between snopes and those other sites on a story. (some sites are not as complete as snopes and do not carry the same urban legends) Other sites have more about viruses and less about the legends circulating.

I am not asking them to be right ALL the time. but if they are going to be a resource site then they need to correct mistakes when they are pointed out.CujoSR wrote:Give me a site on the internets that is right all the time and i'll have a bridge to sell you.
That's because a lot of the 'other' sites get their info from Snopes.GRUMPY PIRATE wrote:I have not yet found a conflict between snopes and those other sites on a story. ...So you are saying that snopes, and all other sites, are in error because they don't agree with your input?Honda Enoch wrote:I am not asking them to be right ALL the time. but if they are going to be a resource site then they need to correct mistakes when they are pointed out.
