First he decided he should direct all of the other guests on how to line up in the pre-show room. They all of course ignored him and he was getting really frustrated. Then I had the misfortune to wind up in the same car with him, where he proceeded to narrate the entire ride in a way that prevented anyone from getting the actual concept. He was in the row in front of me, and I don't think he ever breathed. The worst was in the crash test room when he kept demanding that everyone in the car get into crash position and kept trying to convince us all that we were going to crash into the wall...keep repeating it over and over and getting really frustrated that no one was paying any attention. Ugh! Worst. Test Track ride. Ever.
Oh wow! That is insane. I probably would have gone crazy if I had been sitting with him.

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

Why the heck didn't you and SWMBO tell the parents that A.) they bonked their kid's leg's into SWMBO's head, and B.) if they don't get earphones for the player, you will perform a not-so-magical act and make the player disappear--permanently! Or inform them of the kid's club.
As for word waterfall kid, a glare and "SHUT UP!" followed by "Or you're getting off before the station, and then you'll have the opportunity to find out what happens when loudmouthed little guests try to walk the beam or if they can outrun an approaching monorail train." That, or you could claim to suffer from extreme nausea in noisy environments, and since you usually tend to turn towards the source of the noise right before vomiting, if the kid doesn't want to be covered with puke he'd better keep quiet.

As for word waterfall kid in Test Track, does that ride have any dark sections? Because if it did, that kid would've been seeing stars, or found his mouth bound with duct tape. Those kids sound like they might be hyperactive with no meds. Parents with hyperactive kids may correct me.

Also, I'm amazed you didn't ask them to not only give you and SWMBO a new seat, but snag the manager in passing and demand that the parents be informed that they are creating a nuisance for the other diners, and to PLEASE put the child in the Cub room. After all, don't all restaurants have a policy of reserving the right to refuse service to anyone, and they can eject disruptive diners as necessary?

I have to say DVD players by themselves can be a good thing for the kids, especially at nice restaurants, but turning up the volume and/or not having headphones is just rude. When we go to our favorite steakhouse here in Dallas, we used to bring a DVD player for our daughter and no headphones, but we kept the sound at a level that would not disturb the diners next to us. When she wears the headphones, she has a tendancy to scream out things.

On the issue of parents dumping their kids. We went to the Jonas Brothers concert Saturday night at the new Dallas Cowboys stadium. Sitting in front of us were four ladies in their late 30's / early 40's. I was thinking kind of old for JB fans. Anyway, we then saw them waving at a bunch of girls three sections over from us. Yes, they put their girls in one section and they sat away from them. Just for the record, the girls were 6 to 9 years old. Throughout the entire show, one of the girls would come over crying about one thing or another, then a mother would have to go back there to settle something, and then come back. It kept going on until a few minutes into the JB set. Then the girls were obviously finally focused on what they came to see. It wasn't bad for us, but I could just imagine the poor people sitting by those girls.

Oh, and the concert was surprisingly very good with a special appearance by Miley.

Hmmmmm.....
can't help but think waterfall flow of words kids are somewhere on the Autism Spectrum. Not an excuse, but Autistic behavior does include a lack of social appropriateness.
I think I remember when I was about 6 at CircleVision in DLR a room full of flags and a CM who told us we could interupt her speil ANYTIME to ask where a flag was. After the SECOND time I interupted her, my Mom hissed, SHUT UP! :o:

If parents know ahead of time that little Timmy or Tammy needs to have a DVD player (or DS type gameing system for that matter) in a nice restaurant, then they need to find another place to eat. You shouldn't take your kids to nice restaurants until they are old enough to behave and appreciate the food/atmosphere. I really think I would have asked those folks myself on the way to my new table if they could at least turn the volume down for the sake of the folks sitting around them. It wouldn't have gone off, but maybe it would have decreaced a decible or two.

Problem is, it's not a guest's responsibility to ask other guests to be courteous. It's the manager's job, and in this case the manager was woefully ineffective. And I'm not surprised, since it was the same when we were at the Citricos floor show. I saw a couple nearer to the hell table complaining to the manager, but nothing was done by the time I left even though the manager literally came pretty close to being winged with flying food. As a paying customer, it's not my job to ask others to behave, especially at the signature restaurant prices (although I'd be willing to bet that the Cartoon Family was on the dining plan).

It doesn't have anything to do with a restaurant, but it does have to do with headphones and a video...and me being an unwitting SG due ot technological failure...

Was on my flight to WDW a few weeks ago, and I'd ripped a few movies from DVD onto my laptop (which doesn't have a DVD drive) I plugged in my headphones, put them on, and started up "A Bug's Life".

I was about 5 or 10 minutes into it when I took the headphones off for a moment, and to my horror discovered that the audio from the movie was blaring from the speakers! The headphone plug must not have seated properly in the jack, so it didn't cut off the speakers like it should have.

I turned beet red, of course. Didn't know whether I annoyed anyone by it, and you can't really make a broad announcement. My friend was sitting next to me (and he hadn't said anything to me about the sound and probably should have pointed it out to me). So I said to him that I didn't realize the speakers hadn't turned off, and I made sure to say it loud enough so those in the rows in front and behind us could hear...

Oops... :o:
