How did Canada get its name?? They put all the letters in a hat and pulled it out one by one. First they pulled out a "C", eh! Then a "N", eh! Last, a "D", eh!! :D
I have never heard that one..... That is great I love it. I am a true proud Canadian eh!!!

Sad, Sad, Sad..... and to think they used my tax dollars to pay for producing this commercial!
glendalais wrote:Just got this from family. Not only is it informative, the video promoting this new fact to Foreigners come Canadians (most of whom are probably Anglophone Americans) is hillarious.

Ever wanted to wake up with a whole new nationality? Under recent ammendments to the Canadian Citizenship Act, you might be a Canadian Citizen come 17 April 2009, even if you are resident outside Canada and have never considered yourself Canadian.

Contact the Canadian Department of Citizenship and Immigration in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada or through their website for more information.

(And in respect of the fact that the Department of Citizenship and Immigration took the time and effort, not to mention my tax dollars, to do the entire video in French, again targeting Foreigners come Canadians who are probably Anglophone Americans for the most part...:rolleyes :)

Odd....from what I remember growing up, Global was mainly where you went when you wanted to watch American shows but on a Canadian channel.

This kind of original, Canadian-produced, Canadian-oriented content that's not aired at 3 in the morning in an attempt to meet the letter of the CanCon regulations is more the CBC's sort of thing.

Things have changed a lot back home, it seems.

My thoughts exactly.

Never mind things like stimulating the Economy, giving Canadian Troops serving abroad the proper equipment, and ensuring the continued stability of Medicare - it's obviously much more important to spend money quite possibly sparking a stampede by foreigners for Canadian Passports.... .

(In the interest of full disclosure: As you might be able to tell, I did not vote for the party which forms the current Federal Government at the last election.)

You know, this video could easily be an SNL spoof commercial, with the addition of just a couple of obvious over-the-top gags. Kind of sad that it's real!

Sadly, even though I've traveled coast-to-coast through Canada, I don't qualify. Guess I'll have to remain a citizen of Texas. :)

Ok I am now home and finally able to view this video..... my impressions in one word.... Sad.

I have a sense of humour (spelled the canadian way) and laughed at all of the Canadian sterotypes included in the comercial. I loved the bottle of maple syrup on the clock radio. Damn if I dont keep my syrup on the clock radio.

But why we would be advertising that you can just "wake up Canadian" is beyond me. Most of us who live in this wonderful Country do so with pride and are proud to be Canadian. Being Canadian is not a joke it is a privilege. I am sure our American friends feel the same about their proud nation and would be equally embarassed by this message.

Now if this was a beer commercial I would be all for it........ :D:

Everyone keeps their Maple Syrup on the clock radio. The question is, do you keep your Poutine next to your Maple Syrup?

*goes off to try and find fresh cheese curds*...damn video, stirring up cravings...
