Bru's eye surgery - UPDATE

We saw the doctor today, and there is a bit of good news... When they took the patch off, she was able to see things like a large letter "E" held about 5 feet away, and my hand waving across the room, and she could tell her shoes were pink. A HUGE improvement from the nothing she could see before the surgery.
The doctor said there was medicine/fluid under the contact lens they put in her eye (to protect it as it heals) so he vision will remain blurry while it is in place. The doctor also said her sutures may need to remain in her eye for a MONTH before she removes them.
The artificial lens WAS placed OVER the iris, instead of under it because the doctor had to remove the capsule (the part of the eye that holds the lens. Think of your eyes lens as an ATM card, and the capsule as the slot the card slides in when you use the ATM.) That's how I understand it anyway. The doctor said the lens was stable in the eye. Her eye pressure was low but the doctor expects that to improve as healing continues.
Bru also said it no longer feels like her eye was "too big" for the socket. Which is obviously a good thing.
We go back next Wednesday for another look. Right now she is still wearing the patch over her eye, and she needs drops 4 times a day to prevent irritation/infection. The pain killer they had her on was making her VERY nauseated, so she's going to try Tylenol now.
I think that's all the news I have for now.
I'll be sure to read all your messages to her when she wakes up. Take care everyone.

Oh yeah, Bru has told us a lot about you. You're a great guy to take such good care of her through all the difficulties she's been through. Nothing but good on you sir!
I think her two favorite things to sing are any song by Keane, and my praises LOL. As long as she thinks I deserve it, I'm cool with that.

I don't know about the Keane songs but she gives you the full on, wall of sound chorus.
