Stupid Bee Tricks

Once, when I was working at Knott's, I think it was in August, I was in the bullpen area of the train depot, picking up trash. I noticed an odd shadow on the ground, like something was swirling around and around. I looked up, and coming out of the roof of the depot was a swarm of bees! Fortunately, they settled in a nearby pepper tree for the rest of the day, and were gone the next day. But we still worried about guests getting stung (along with co-workers). Luckily, nobody got stung. Sure caused some excitement, though.

I'm always fishing bees out of the pool. My neighbors think I'm crazy. Wouldn't you want me to fish your kid out if he was in trouble?

one of my old GFs used to put a pan of water out in the summer for the bees.
and she had to put little pebbles for them to stand on in it, they are so short with thier little legs they would land in it to get a drink and sink and drown.

One of our really good friends got married at a little country church in North Georgia. DH and I arrived early for the ceremony, and I had to use the little girls room. There were two elderly ladies setting things up that directed me to the down stairs area. The light switch was at the bottom of the stairs ( go figure) and as we went down the stairs we heard this wierd buzzing noise. I thought it was a faulty florescent light, but when we turned on the light the walls were just COVERED with bees. We snapped off the light again and I carefully made my way to the bathroom (which was NOT covered in bees) used the facilities (yeah, I had to go that bad) and we went back up and reported to the nice ladies about the swarm. "They're STILL here??!!??" they asked. It seems that the day before, the pest control had been out to get rid of them, but needless to say they were still there. So they just shut the doors to the downstairs and the wedding went on as scheduled. I don't think anyone got stung either. Was one of the creepiest things we've ever witnessed (the swarm not the wedding ;) )

Please tell me they at least have a policy of removing bee hives/swarms from areas near queues. Some of us are completely incapable of confronting a beehive. I know... most folks with a fear of bees are simply uneducated about them, but a real apiphobia is just that, a phobia, meaning logic doesn't do shit to help. I'm to the point where I can deal with a solitary bee so long as it stays in my line of sight and at least 3 feet away. If line of sight is lost (not due to bee say, bee being seen leaving via a window, or flying so far away it's a speck): *Frozen Stock Still* "IS IT ON ME? IS IT ON ME? The BEE! IS IT ON ME? GET IT OFF ME!!!"

A whole hive? *Flips out and RUNS.*

Mayo is even more brave than I. If I see if a single bee near me I freak out, go into panic mode start screaming like a little school girl and run around waving my hands like a crazy person. I am a big guy, trust me this must be the funniest thing for people to see.

Plus you have the very real problem of beesting allergies. Not fun at all...

I have a major phobia about bees. Too bad for me, I didn't realize I had this phobia until walking through a British orchard, which of course had bees everywhere. Gah! I was completely freaked out the whole trip, and had to leave early. As soon as I see a bee, I have to shut my eyes tight and hope and pray it goes away, I can't watch it.

Maybe the Africanized Bees are finally here and they went to Disney World!

My dad told me that bees are attracted to carbon dioxide. So, growing up, I'd hold my breath when I saw a bee...

..of course, that doesn't keep the bee from flying toward me, so now I just walk "around" the bee.
