Easy. Drive to the Port of Oakland and find the Matson car transportation terminal. Pay $950 and get in line. Wait a week and drive on to a RORO. Five days later you're here.

Meals Rejected by Ethiopians?

MREs were after my time. For a while we got Korean War era C rats. The packs of three cigarettes were great trading material. I lived on fruit cocktail.

I remember the first time I had the old "c" rats. You are right, they were from the korean war!! And I tried to keep the little cigarette package, but ended up smoking them when we ran out of cigarettes (I smoked back then)

Years later while working as a civilian, they military provided them to us, and I was amazed at how much they had improved!!! I understand now, they actually have a "combat" version that includes extra carb/protean packets for eating on the go.

The worst I ever saw was Ham And Eggs Chopped. There was about a half inch of grease in the top of the can. The ants ate well that day.

Mr. Syndrome can take us all out to Plant City to the Keel & Curley Winery (I think that's the name), where they make blueberry wines, among others. GOOD stuff.

After Hurricane Ivan they handed out MREs and bottled water and we still have a whole box of MREs piled up behind the dining room table. We did sample a few of them and they were pretty durn tasty!

Wallaby - if you're driving that limo from Orlando to Portland, bring Shorty along and stop and pick me up on the way west. I'd love a limo tour of my old home town with an entertaining guide and my own personal doorman to hold doors open for me. :D:
