Oh yeah... absolutely. I'm in theater too. And there was SOMONE on the other side of the causeway from me the first time I saw the show who took some surreptitious flash photos during the show, including one of the fish tank scene which ruined the effect.

I also know that flashless photos are fine if they said they are, since yeah, they don't blind actors or ruin lighting effects.

As for the planetarium example... that reminds me of the number of really annoying people I saw taking FLASH PHOTOGRAPHS OF FIREWORKS.

Back in the 1970's we were in the caverns at Hannibal, MO and there was a lantern tour that we took. Yep, some SG had to wait until the tour guide turned off the lantern so we were in total darkness and FLASH. Wow nothing like a flash photo of a pitch black cavern, lol.

I have experienced the flash nuts too!

When you talk about fireworks and flashes, I got a new travel camera that actually has a "fireworks" setting. The last time we were at WDW, there was a fireworks convention, and we watched it from the balcony of the poly. I got some pretty darn good shots, considering its just a small handheld. (I did put it on my gorrillapod!) I also got a few minutes of movie with the same camera, but unlike a video camera, you really can't adjust the various features.

And I do have a setting for indoors, no flash (used to be called museum setting) and it does work very good.

Most shows that involve a screen are no videotaping. Many (not all) CMs are just lazy and phoning it in until they get fired. Example, my peeps at USH. That said, play on the safe side and don't video tape and notify management of the inconsistancy. That is one thing that urked me, I would tell a guest No, and my asshole co-worker (in another possition) would say it is okay. SG comes back to yell at me.

Yeah. I remember you and I were just about the only ones at Shrek who took that rule seriously.

Hmmm, what kind of camera is that? I would love to use such a camera for the Sounds Like Summer concert series this year as my regular camera didn't take such good pictures of it last year.

For Narnia! And for Aslan!

All of my favorite Disney characters up above there. :p:

The one I got is a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-w120. It has a "stedy" shot mode, and I got it a 4GB memory card. its a 7.2MP camera. I have it on the highest setting for pictures(mp wise) and can still take about 1200 without downloading.

I wanted one that I could just put in my pocket when going to the parks, so I didn't have to lug all my stuff around. For vacation, it works just fine!

Nemo used to be no photography/video taping. However, it changed over the summer. Now you can take pictures (no flash) and video tape (no external lighting).
Being a former Soarin' CM, there are two underlying reasons photography/video taping is verboten, 1) Safety, if the camera slips out of your paws, it will fall about 40 feet and if you wish, you can pick up the bag of pieces at the end of the day, 2) Ride E Stop. As a CM, if I heard a crash while in the theater, I would immediately do a E-stop, not knowing what the crash was. This would then upset of course the many other people who listened and didn't photograph.

Just some thoughts and ramblings :D:
