So will drinking, ask Darph!

Glad you made it through, my friend. While you're getting off the drugs, I suggest a strong daily dose of Stupidoferical Guestarpamine Tricksocortizone to help you recover. What? Why... no... that's most certainly not... a shameless plug... for any website. However, I do have to admit it's a very addictive substance.

Haven't seen too many of those around here. But I think DMom put it well enough.

Heh... laughter is the best medicine after all -- and the endless supply of SG's means that the cost is much cheaper than most meds!

No worries about me getting off the pain pills. I've never been the type to over-medicate. In fact I usually err on the side of too little -- hence my stopping the morphine early and refusing the sleeping pills. And after my wrist surgery in '04, I had switched to non-narcotics within days. I'm still on the hard stuff now -- and with my anesthetic pain pump due to run out today or tomorrow, I will likely be for a while more -- but trust me, I substitute non-narcotic meds, or a least reduce the dose of the stronger stuff, often to see if I can get by on less.

As for finding a sadistic and demanding physical therapist... I couldn't help but laugh. If you guys only knew. My own mother is a recently-retired PT... who keeps up her credentials... lives in my neighborhood... and has absolutely no problem making me work hard. (She was making me work different muscle sets when I was barely awake in the recovery room!) And she had a similar ankle surgery last year, so she knows what it will take to get back on my feet again. (Literally.)

And if that's not reassuring enough, she also occasionally cleans our house and brings lunch! And the price is great -- we just have to send her grandkids to spend time with her every now and then!

P.S. Being at home has its privileges. I'm sitting in bed, watching Jeopardy, and the $1200 clue in the "Australian Wildlife" category is: "The quokka, a short-tailed species of this kangaroo relative, is found on Rottnest Island & in W. Australia." Answer:
What is a Wallaby? :D:
No mention of Wombats, though.

Glad your put back together. As to your new hardware, is that going to fuse your ankle? They keep telling my dad to do that, but he's really resistent.
