He was busy spieling, and I may be a stupid guest, but I'm not going to interrupt a spieling skipper to say, "um, excuse me, she just admitted that it really is her birthday after all..."

"Yeah yeah yeah, backside of water. Listen, my girlfriend just admitted..."

I ask if anyone's sung the Birthday song to the child, and if they haven't I'll ask the family or the child if they want people to sing to them. If they say Yes, I'll have some of the family step aside so people can see what's going on at the top of the stairs, and make an announcement, that "This is my new friend so and so, and he/she's celebrating their (insert number) Birthday. On the count of three, will you help me sing Happy Birthday to So and so? One two three!" Then I tell the child after the singing is over."This is your chance, Take a deep breath and yell "Thank you!" Some kids will do that... others just get shy.
Ah Purpy, that's great that you can (sometimes) get the kid to say Thank You!

Once when I was working at Knott's, my second at Balloon Race found out it was my birthday, and while I was letting riders off and getting the balloons ready for the next ride, she got on the mike and had everybody in queue sing me the birthday song! Really made my day!

Last October, I brought my daughter there during her 8th birthday. (All she wanted for her Birthday was to hang out in MK, get her hair done at BBB, and go someplace cool for dinner )Everyone there was very cool with her. She was grateful for all the well wishes, although she's kinda soft-spoken (shy). I just made sure that everyone who tried to make her birthday more magical knew how much we appreciated it.

I can't see how someone can be so rude and stuck up, that they won't acknowledge someone trying to brighten their day. Oh well, some folks are just ungrateful little pr#cks, though.
