As a CM, I get great pleasure out of guests comming up and just saying thanks for the hard work. We work long hours, in the hot weather, for little money, and even less respect from guests, peers, and managers.

I get my "pixie dust" from saying thank you to any member of the military ( at least the ones that i find to be militray by way of clothing, etc... ) and shaking their hand. they are put into harms way for my safety and well being and the least i can do is show that i appreciate them. CM's are like members of the armed forces in a way.. we are over worked for little return... thats why i do it...

Now.. some guests just say thanks for the best time "i" have had in a long time... some actually go the extra mile...

i have guests who have downloaded templets from "X" board of thank you cards thats they customize and hand out to cast.. some hand out bubbles ( thanks Bubble Ladies ) and I have had one sister dueo hand out pens that say "Thanks for making the magic" on them.

Cast dont ask for much... just not being an SG mainly...

You will have my (and a couple of attendants too) eternal gratitude if you don't ask that, especially in front of the children. I understand the curiosity but last week we had a guy asking right in front of his 3 year old kid. The little one kept on asking what was he talking about. Lord, I wanted to strangle him.

Recommendations in general: relax, have a good time, plan ahead of time and enjoy the little things in life. Believe it or not the people that enjoy the park the most are those who take it easy, plan and relax. You are on vacation don't run yourself out.

I had a few--very few--positive interactions with guests during my enslavement by Knott's. One time during Easter week, I'd just let a young guest off of Charlie Brown Speedway in Camp Snoopy, and after he was out the gate, he came over to where I was and gave me a plastic Easter Egg with a tiny Snickers bar inside! I think I still have it somewhere! The egg, not the Snickers bar.... :D:

Another time I was letting guests off a ride--not sure if it was Huff'N'Puff or Speedway, but this darling little girl gave me a hug--she really liked her ride!

It doesn't get much better than that!

When in the Monorail do not ask: "do you have to steer?"

Funny about the pay thing, that's one of the most common questions. In the cab there is a lot of interaction with the guests. Monorail drivers have heard it all. You really can't offend or surprise us. I have revised my view of the human species ever since working Monorails.

Could put some of these people behind glass and create a new section for DAK. "Hey folks! Welcome to the Human exhibit! The human world is also a diverse ecosystem in itself. In this circle of life exists the prey, strollers, and then there are the ECVs. You can see the latter over there behind the 2 layers of electric fence."

Don't ask the raft driver if it's on a track.

"Excuse me, are those ducks real?"
"Yes, sir, but the water is fake."

I always try to interact with the characters and have great fun at it. Disneymom can testify to that fact!

I always would talk to Belle about our respective *princes* and when I met Baloo at Goofy's Kitchen character breakfast, I told him I was taking him home with us, cause I wanted a pet bear AND cause I am a Vet tech and can take care of all his problems, even take his temperature when he was sick! That was a funny interaction! I told him we had cats and he was NOT allowed to eat them. He hung his head! hehehe
Everytime he walked by our table after that, he would put his paws over his read end and shake his head at me. hehehehe

Goofy and I always have nice chats, once Bre'r Fox and Goofy had a fight over me, they were whacking each other heads to get the other away from me and then hug me. I was caught between them, mind you, while one would pull me one way and then the other would pull me the other (gently...). It was fun.
I always try to leave em laughing and smiling with big hug, and not just the characters. I always try to get all the CMs we have contact with to smile and if a hug is needed I will give them one! It has never backfired on me. It has always been the best experience and I have been told by numerous CMs they wish EVERYONE was like Ralphie and me. They tell us we *get* it! Most will tell us we should be working there and that is our future dream!

The CMs are the magic and without them we would not have a great time at Disney Parks! I love the CMs and we have made so many new friends when we go to the Parks and keep in touch with them via email!

Last trip to DL, we met such a sweet young woman at the concierge lounge at the paradise Pier and she made it very special for us. I gave her a plushie Wall-e before we left and she loved it! Wall-e had been released that weekend...And we were raving bout the movie... She is so cute and such a great CM! Holla to Nayeli at Paradise Pier! And Chloe at PP as well! Two very magical young women at the hotel! Made our trip so special and magical! :bouncemic

Always nice to make new friends at a Disney Park!

It is true what Susi says, and the characters really love her! I understand why Baloo never turns his back to you now, tho!  :p:

It amazes me some of the things I have heard just in my time in Rails. In buses, by the time they would approach me it was too late to ask questions, and in Safari, I would not take any questions because I had 40 pages of script to pack into 20 minutes (minimal exaggeration intended... it was more like 25-35). But now, where my trainer allows me to talk freely with guests (and I'd better not get that overspeed or he'll laugh at me and eat more fingers) I get all questions you can possibly think of... and that's just in three days.

I am going to ride in your cab with you Wallaby, next year when we come back and I WON'T ask any stoopid questions. I will give you a hug, however! :D:

OT for a paragraph:Gad, I am SO happy for you Wallaby! You now really are a monorail guy! Your dream has come true! Is it as wonderful as you imagined it would be? Or better? Now where is that smily sign that says "OFF TOPIC"? I thought we had one. Am I not seeing it, Zazu? :o:

Can't wait to ride with our favorite Marsupial CM!!!!! We will leave you laughing.... :hysteria:
