Superman is closed but has been since the beginning of the year for electrical issues, now the "official" reason is the restraint.

Heh, if you ever ride "Motntezooma's Revenge", take a look at the loop when the train travels through it, it shakes a bit, and if you look at the track in the station, it moves forwards and backwards when the ride cycles to keep the tension down.

Come to think of it, lots of stuff sways. Heh. Take a look at almost any rollercoaster, the track will most likely sway. :D:

(for more fun, look at something like Ghostrider, it rattles and shakes when the trains go by. Heh)

RIP Bud Hurlbut.

You will be missed.

Hey kids, don't go getting excited if you see a roller coaster swaying/"vibrating" some. In order to not shatter/crack/break/or experience what's called "catastrophic mechanical failure", these types of structures have to flex. Hell, even flagpoles do it.

Physics: she's a harsh mistress.

Spending my time around the world doing theatrical flying effects, I have to constantly educate people on the limit imposed on them by the immutable laws of the universe.

In the simplest terms possible. "That little wire is gonna hold my weight?"
"Yes."
"How?"
"Physics."
"???"
"Look, it's a 7x19 aircraft cable. 1/8" diameter. It can hold a VW, so don't worry about your damn self."
"Okay!"

:? I used to work at knotts, at the main gate doing ticket sales, guest relations and other odds and ends like information, and ticket taking. There was a fire in the backlot over by boomerang, it was caused by electrical.........I had friends that were back stage when it was sparking. Knotts told the papers it was someone smoking that had started the fire.

Come on now, who really doesn't secretly hope that tink will smash into the matterhorn?

I have to say as a DLR CM, visiting KBF is like going to a parallel dimension. You see the employees doing things and you think for a split second... "What the hell?!" Then you just think that it's Knotts and all is well.

But the worst I've seen was a guy giving the all clear on unload at Jaguar while either text messaging or playing a game on his phone. He wasn't even looking to see if it was clear! Just looking down at his phone with his thumb out...

KBF Ride Op wrote:I dont know if the Disney parks do this also, but they told me when I hired on that I would be promoted to "part-time" in 3 months. Then that changed to 6 months. I worked there almost 8 months and still never got a promotion. I had nothing against me on my record or anything, they were just being stingey. Oh well though.
We do that, but you have to convert for it. Most new hires are CTs and after their probational period, about 90 days or three months, they can apply to convert to CR status.
Grumpy wrote:Well, I remember when they had the VertiGo attraction, (in place of Haunted Shack) and they tore it down, because the replica at Cedar Point cracked due to weather conditions that we do not get here in Southern California. No one was on the attraction when it happened. I'm sure they figured "Better safe than sorry."
I was suppse to be on the opening crew of Veritgo, but I quit before it was constructed.
