Well, if PETA gets their way, they plan to release all the animals to the wild and replace them with animatronic copies.

First of all, the animals would not survive in the wild and who wants to see a bunch of fake animals.

So instead of the animals living their lives out in good conditions and properly cared for, they become sick, diseased and food for others. Some ethical treatment.

What was that theme park with the animatronics gone wild...WestWorld?
Sure would hate to see the animatronic Shamu going nuts on the trainers!

I just don't understand groups like PETA, except that they are more a group about power than the actual animal thing.

I just remember, having lived in Oregon, I went to visit Keiko a few times. They were rehabilitating him to live in the wild. When they took him away to Iceland and released him, it seems like he was always turning up in some inlet or on some beach, playing with the children. It wasn't long after they released him that his body was found. I bet that whale could have had at least a few more good years if allowed to still be around people.

I liked having him moved to Newport, to a tank that was big enough for him. But that is where he should have lived out his days. Once acclimated to humans, I don't believe it's really all that possible to make an animal wild again. And in the wild, that is exactly what an animal needs to be.

I hate the idea of all the harm that would befall all those animals if realeased...

I remember taking a backstage tour, where they were rehabilitating dolphins. This was not a place that most people could go (except by paying that extra amount per person), and with their techniques and work, you could tell that they were doing a good thing. Now PETA wants to come in and destroy that. :mad:

I think you hit the nail on the head. Its not about the animals so much as it is about the power they want.

They want to be able to tell you that it is bad to have pets (they want to "release" ALL animals to the wild) they don't want you to eat ANY kind of meat. they want to be able to tell you how to act and think when it come to anything to do with animals.

There is no doubt that they would want to have NO animals at AK for example. and no decorations with "animal parts" horns and so forth.

DW and I watched a documentary about them a few years ago, then Penn and Teller did a BS segment about them.

Talk about misguiding the public on their goals!

PETA has a record of killing and torturing more animals than they "save". They also have a record of shooting themselves in the foot, with their publicity stunts. They are a cult, and very dangerous. They're in the same group as the ELF. I ask you, which is more polluting, driving a gas-guzzling SUV, or burning a bunch of them? I hope they are at the top of the FBI's Most Wanted list, because they--PETA and ELF-- are terrorist organizations, with the "ecology" and "animal rights" being a front. They try to kill those who oppose them.
Humanity has gained much from their relationship with the animal kingdom, and not just using them as food. Nobody likes to think of animals being used in research, but the fact is, if it weren't for animal research, many medical advances would be impossible. If PETA and ELF were to have their way, the world and civilization as we know it would revert to the Stone Age, or worse. I have read what the economic bases are for the world's countries, and most depend heavily on animal products, mining, and mineral extracting. The world economy would collapse. And what about parts of the world where plant resources of food are largely unavailable? That would result in famine. PETA and ELF will not be satisfied until they have destroyed everything, and caused the unnecessary deaths of millions from starvation.
Furthermore, I have checked with medical sources concerning vegetarianism, and they say though vegetarianism is healthier (they are not referring to veganism or other extremes), it is not necessary. PETA and ELF must be stopped.

I know a few ex-PETA folks who got their eyes opened by the shenanigans there, and they generally agree that the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse would gladly take them on as a fifth if they'd just stay away from their rides.

reminds me of that news story about a group that nursed a sick seal, and with tv cameras rolling, released him at sea, where he was promply eaten by a shark while they watched.

That scenario was also the subject of a very popular "Pearls Before Swine" comic! (If I knew how to post it I would.)
I hope Sea World stays part of Anheuser Busch. I love visiting Sea World,but wouldn't dare set foot if PETA or some other radical animal group operated it.

PETA is the site that has contests and other pop culture stuff. They will do anything to get funding including holding contests to draw in younger persons.

Let them have SeaWorld and then WDW can build a real SeaPark to replace the defunct SeaWorld Orlando.

The buyer of Anheuser Busch has already announced they'll be selling off non-core assets. That means the parks. It'll probably happen fast as analysis of the buyer indicates they're in a razor thin financial position.

PETA would have to cough up a large amount of money just to finance buying any or all of the parks. They may talk about it but talk is cheap.

True. But they didn't get rich throwing cash into a bottomless pit. That does exclude trust fund nitwits that truly believe money grows on trees.
