Well... it seems to be working in ONE direction right now. Trixie smells his paw... and puts hers under in return, and he attacks it. I don't think it's kitten play either, since he's hissing, but the vet trimmed his claws pretty short, so there's little danger. I know because he thinks my fingers are toys when I'm asleep. It IS kitten play when he bats her in the face while she's smelling his paw tho, I think, since I can see he doesn't use claws, and it's that tentitive sort of little bat, like... "Ooooooh there's something on the other side of this door!"

When Trixie goes in for her teeth, if he's still family less, I'm going to ask the new vet about getting Softpaws on all four paws of her and the little guy. Her teeth appointment is a few days after the two weeks are up to find his family. I probably won't use them on her long term, since Trixie's had her claws the whole time I've had her and has never been bad about the furniture. Also even if the little guy turns out to be a sofa scratcher (no sofa in the room he's in now,) long term I'd only have him in front end Softpaws. But when I start letting them visit with one another I don't want either of them getting hurt if they have a spat initially, and making sure no one has any sharp claws, front or back, will go a long way towards that. Hopefully by the time they fell off, 4-6 week later, the two would have reached a mutual non-aggression pact.

I worry because the little guy has escaped a few times while I was carrying in food and water to him, and couldn't react fast enough to catch him without spilling water everywhere. They don't go after each other immediately, but by the time I put the water down and go back for him, he's always posturing at her, and hissing. I usually grab him and get him back in his room now tho, before Trixie starts hissing back. She's very tolerant. I remember the shelter people told us the story of how she was tolerant enough to let another queen, who's kittens had been taken for adoption, and wasn't dealing well, share her kittens when they were only a few weeks old... which is really unusual.

She just watches me shut him back in the bedroom, and then goes and claws her scratching post. I've noticed she does that allot after someone makes her feel helpless or damages her pride (like trimming her claws or forcing her to eat a pill) almost as if she's saying "See these? I'm not weak. I could have clawed you if I wanted to. It's just I chose not to." I also know, though, that if the little man, who's not so tolerant, pushes her, which he seems prone to do with his constant hissing, she will claw him, just like she'll do to any human that ignores protest meows, whining growls of "StoooooooOOOOOoooooooOOOOOooooooP!" warning bats, and and hisses of "Last Warning." That is to say, I think he's more likely to claw first, but she's in a position to do serious retaliation damage. Taking claws out of the picture with Softpaws I think will help add a bit of safety to their introductions.

Cats are territorial, and they will fight to establish who's boss.

I hope to someday be owned by a Sphynx. They are so cool.

Siamese Rule... I've almost always owned Siamese (with only two exceptions).

I can also say that Si and Am captured the personality of the breed very well..

Yes, but I'd like to minimize the damage to either cat, by making sure no one is bringing razor sharp claws to the party.
