BUT BUT BUT, IT WAS ON THE INTERNET, IT MUST BE TRUUUUUUUUE!

Good luck dispelling that rumor ;)

Earthquakes happen in California...We happened to have a 5.4 quake in Chino Hills last Monday. Hurricanes are an East Coast event Whazzup. The Original Small World ride is here at Disneyland... and I second the boats stuff that Lady Ulrike said.

As for the buoyancy issue, yes they are making the boats a little more buoyant (we're talking an inch) but it's just more of an issue of stopping boats getting stuck, which does not necessarily have anything to do with the size of the people in the boats, it has to do with the weight distribution in the boats. If you have two small children in the front row and two adults in the back row, it can still get stuck even if the adults are petite cause they way more than the children in the front. OR even better, you have two small children in the front and 3 adults in back, the adults will weigh significantly more and the boat will get stuck because of uneven weight distribution.

There will probably be some minor show changes, what they are I do not know for sure yet, all I know is rumors and I won't encourage those.

MOST of us here realize, like you have stated several times, that it's just time to replace the worn out stuff.

The rumor mill will not be disuaded by any logical explanation, but will insist that they know more than any CM, because they heard it from someone who knows a person who's seconds cousins' brother was roomates with a guy who was talking with someone who sat next to a WDW executive on a cross country airplane trip that told him seceret Disney inside information, because he was a nice guy!

It could happen! (channelling Judy Tenuta!)

RUM?

This kills me. They are making such a big deal about this but not a word about the fact that "Small World" Orlando was closed for a year for refurb...

Rumor mills are amazing things..

On a true note, I did not see the need for the entire year shut down of Small World at WDW until they opened it back up. At that point I was amazed... I guess I'd gotten so used to it in it's previous state, I did not realize how wonderful it could be..

That's one reason I love Disney..

And secondly, No one ever thinks about the fact that IASW was built in WDW about 4 years later and did not have the same issues. People didn't bloat up that fast.. Why doesn't WDW have the same issues?? Because the DL/World's Fair version was the prototype.... They already knew which problems to fix when they built the WDW versions..

Oh, sorry Churchy and Purpy, for some reason I was fixated on WDW and thought that's the Small World that Churchy was talking about. Guess I didn't read closely enough. Please excuse my SG remark. :o:

*points at the DLR acronym*

California, Whazzup, not Florida.

LOL I was wondering when we had a hurricane.

Disney dare not say anything about the weight of guests being a factor. doing so would turn off guests and offend fat people. Even if studies were to clearly show a fact there is no way Disney dare offend their guests.

Thank you everyone, especially Lady Ulrike ;) for clearing that up.

It makes so much sense now. I just remember sitting in a boat and thinking, "Captain, we're taking on water! What shall we do? Abandon ship!"

It's not Splash Mountain, kids. There is NO reason for there to be water in the bottom of a Small World boat, okay?

But hopefully with the rehab, the ride will move along much nicer. I just hope they don't rocket through like the Log Ride at Knott's after they re-did their flumes. "Oh look, there's CHINASCOTLANDAFRICACANADAFRANCEEGYPTAUSTRALIAETC. THE END. Get off the boat!"

Ooops, is that a new rumor? HEHE

Some of us hope it will ;)

I for one am glad about the new flume. I've been stuck in there, in a spot where you can't get off safely. When we finally made it back, and the CM gave us one a readmit for anything but Nemo, I looked them square in the eye and said, nothing, nothing you can do can possibly make up for the hell we just went through.

Actually, I didn't say that, it wasn't that bad. I got to take pics of my wife and daughter and we joked with the other guests around us :)
