With the fire danger in California, I am glad to see that they do error on the side of caution.
During the last fire near San Diego, they talked about hot embers/ash "Jumping" several miles and re-igniting brush.
I can't imagine the bad publicity (not to mention lawsuits) if DLR caused several hundered homes to go up in flames because of a fireworks show.
Current, over the 4th of July weekend, there were approximately 1700 fires burning! They did manage to knock down over 1000 of them!
I like fireworks as much as the next fan, but if the conditions are bad, I can always come back some other time!

dazyhill wrote:High winds at DL? At Knott's-which is not that far from DL-our fireworks show went on as scheduled. I worked last night and it didn't seem windy. Of course, Knott's would have shot fireworks off regardless of the weather. :)
It was a decent display-though nothing like DL.
I think Knott's fireworks went off earlier than DL's. By 9:30, the winds had picked up enough to have to cancel the show, per reports from people outside the parks.

Not to mention there's a fire station right next to K's, and that K's doesn't care what their fireworks do (too bad it can't burn down GhostRider!). They shoot them over the employee lot, and if any damage is done to an employee's car, oh well!

Too bad they don't shoot them over the managers' parking area--let's see what their attitude is then! Also, if the fire station got a fire on its roof from Knott's fireworks, I'd love to hear the "damage control" speech!

Is Knott's really that bad? Most Cedar Fair parks are really good... ('cept restrooms, they're nasty!)

Remember that with Knott's it is surrounded by streets and in an emergency they could open the Stagecoach exit to let people out as well as the old west entrance and exit plus the normal exit. I do not remember who wrote about the fires in Fantasyland but I do know there were some. Can you imagine an evac of DLR? The danger of them old buildings exploding in flames and the sundry chemicals going boom. Knotts has a lot of newer buildings and they also are under the rules of Orange County fire department but maybe Anaheim has its own fire. I will wat for the experts to speak.

Well...as for City Hall last night...
...all I'm saying is that the line was out the door and wrapped around past the fire station for approximately 3 hours. I got to call a few 1099s.

What's a '1099'? I'm not finding that code on the acronym list.

LMFAO. Cedair Fair is a stake in the heart of any themepark. Killing blow. I feel bad for the Paramount Parks that just got bought up by CF, because they'll probably be ran into the ground. K's is BAD. And I'm not lying or blowing things out of proportion either.

I've been to Kings Island since the takeover, and it's just as good, if not better than before (MUCH cleaner!) At Worlds of Fun we're treated quite civially, compared to Six Flags. :)
